Where to start
A friend just gave me a 67 hardtop. I've known him the whole time he had the car. The paint started to peel about 10 years ago and for some reason he parked next to a barn and left it there. It ran pretty well when he parked it, but it has taken a beating from the weather. The most significant damage is to the floorpan and the frame. They are significantly rusted out. I am trying to determine where to start to make the decision if I should try and restore it or just part it out. It was free so the price was right. Any suggestions?

Some hard core research is in order and a lot of thinking. Rusted floor pans and frame rails are a lot of work, money, and heartache. How bad do you want this particular car, because it is going to cost a whole bunch of time and money to fix major rust damage? The good news is that parts are available for 67's. But my advise is to part is out or use it as a parts car for another 67. 67 hardtops seem to be too plentiful for major work in my opinion. Sorry.

I agree with Thunderbolt. Use this one as a parts car and get another '67 with a good body, frame rails, and floor pans. Then build it as you want it - show car, restomod or whatever. Coupes are plentiful and cheap. No need to waste big bucks on rustbuckets.
