T-5 Tranny Q's
Just curious how quick those of you with a stock T-5 are running?? Since I only have the stock T-5 and I'm hoping to run in the mid-high 12's with slicks and I'm not sure if it'll hold up or not.

I would say thats the point where you should start looking at least at a world class or a Tremec. I was never able to have a stock trans live in a mid 12 sec.car or faster in a 87-93 mustang.

Start saving your pennies now for a G-force upgrade or a Tremec 3550/tko. Hard to say what would break 1st. But with slicks my money is on the input shaft snapping in two.

Thats what I figured. I'm hoping to get a TKO by the end of summer.
Would staying away from the slicks and using either a drag radial or street tire ( ex. Nitto 555R) prolong the tranny life??

The more traction you get the worse the tranny will hold up. Mind you im kinda one of those freak cases who is running a 4cyl t5 and its gone 13's and never missed a shift. And thats with a dual friction clutch so it grabs pretty good. I think one of the biggest things that has saved me and helps for any tranny is i dont powershift. Partly because i think this tranny would die if i did.

Yeah I agree, thats why I don't plan on powershifting this tranny. Just those starting line launches will take its toll.
One thing I did forget to mention is that I'm still running the stock OEM type clutch, no upgrade yet since I plan on gettin a new TKO soon anyways.
