IMO the stock aod can't even handle the stock 225 hp. Even more so when you do the 1d1 shuffle.

I agree with the above statement. I dont have much experience with autos but none of my friends automatic trannies held up very well. Not even in bone stock GT's.

It all depends on different variables. A stock tranny with high miles won't hold up under lots of power. Get a good quality rebuild and it should last pretty well. My stock tranny went out at 100k miles, had it rebuilt by Aamco and it went out 3 more times after that in the time span of a year. I Then had a rebuild by a small shop who put quality in their work and the difference is very noticable. I've been running this tranny now with a 3000 rpm stall converter and all my mods for about a year. The shifts are very firm even without a shift kit, far better then any rebuild Aamco every did.

Alot depends on the condition of the transmission. I ran 7.80's in the 1/8th for over a year before mine went out on my old car. It had a shift kit and a extra cooler and that was it. I have an AOD in my current car to, granted it only has 42,000 miles on it, but so far it's held up. I don't have any track passes on it yet, just some street time on radials. We'll see what some sticker tires and a full pass down the track do for it.
