Default Are Torque Converter Interchangeable ??

Are Torque Converter Interchangeable ?? ie... AOD/AOD-E/4R70W units ??

I would probably say they will physically interchange, but the stall speed of the converter is determined by the engine/drivetrain application so you may end up with an 800rpm stall if you a truck converter in or something. Keep in mind AOD's went behind windsor engines, and other old syle engines and the 4R70W is used in the new modular engines, the converters are probably similar but not interchangable...but this is just a guess.
Also because of engine differences and bellhousing differences the amount of converter expansion tolerance may vary so if you swap in the wrong converter you may end up ruining the thrust face of an engine bearing or even lock up the trans if there's enough heat and friction.
If i were you i'd just get the right converter for your application. It's good insurance against an expensive mistake.
Good luck, maybe someone can actually tell you for certain if you can swap them, but i'm highly doubtful you'll be able to.
