Not the usual H-pipe question?
I'm wondering if running an H pipe on my exhaust will pick up any power? Right now I have BBk Lt's with just flow tubes bolted on with dynomax race magnums. Now I have read some where that putting a cross over pipe (Hpipe) on a car will pick up some power over just having dual exhaust and I have heard that putting it as close to the collectors is ideal?
Now the questions are is it worth me putting a crossover pipe on my exhaust and if so where should it be located. Is there any tech articles about this on the net? ------------------ 88LX 5.0,C4,3200stall,TFS stg 1 cam, ported E7's, BBK LT's, Race magnum bullets, ASP 3" pulley, 3.73's, 75hp NOS Dry Kit, Explorer intake 7.94@85 N/A 1/8th C4 7.61@89 N2O 1/8th T-5 http://www.angelfire.com/ns/PurgingPony/50mainpage.html |

I read an article in Peterson's 4x4 and offroad where they dyno tested a POS chevy truck with a whole bunch of different exhaust configurations and the X pipe made the most torque with the 2nd highest horsepower, the H-pipe had the most horsepower and 2nd highest torque and the independant pipes got lower numbers (the truck had like 10 more ft/lbs of torque w/the h-pipe). The purpose of the H-pipe is to increase scavanging by equalizing the two pipes. I've also heard that the closer you get it to the headers the better the effect they have, but I don't have solid numbers on that (i read it in a exhaust/induction science oriented book). It probably is worth your time to put one in, but i can't give you any solid comparisons related to mustangs. good luck

Actually it's suppose to give you a little more low end torque. The main reason is to get rid of that droning resination at around 2000RPM. I doubt it would be worth your time to install one. Money could be better spent elsewhere.

You could probably go to a muffler shop and get them to put one in for about $20 and it will make the car feel much quicker on the street.
I used to have 2 1/4" pipes with no cross over and generic turbo mufflers and non-mandrel bent pipes and when I went to the the MAC exhaust and off-road H-pipe the car felt way stronger. It got even better with the Flowtech X-pipe. Just something to think about. ------------------ GT-40 heads (ported, polished, + milled), B303 cam, 1.7rr's, JE pistons, Offy intake, Carter AFB 625cfm carb, Flowtech 1 5/8" shortys, Flowtech X-pipe, MAC Flowpath exhaust, MAC pulleys, 373's, subframes, Eibachs+Tokicos, B+M ripper, FMS Clutch, Zoom Quadrant+cable, 17" CSA Ultra rims, 235/45ZR17 Yokohama AVS S4's, MSD 6A ignition+coil, FMS 9mm wires, Carbed, Naturally Aspirated, and Nasty! |

Summit cares a crossover kit that you could put in right after the headers. Just get a reducer and weld the kit in. After the crossover weld you mufflers on.

I have stock headers and a Dynomax Cat-back with Super Turbo's, but when I had my off road pipe put in it made a big difference in power.
Totally worth the money that I spent. Plus the car sounds way meaner now. ------------------ Driving: 1998 F-150 Far way in Edmonton==> 1995 Mustang GT |
