2003 Cobra vs. 2002 WS6
Met this guy at a bar in STL who has a WS6. His mods are an exhaust, FIPK, a chip, and a K&N. I'm stock except for a K&N, and a sub in the trunk.
We agree on a place to run, and to go after I honk three times. We get to the spot and are both in first @ 20 mph. HONK HONK HONK.... POW!! Both cars are off at the same time and to my surprise, DEAD EVEN. At 6800 RPM I throw the Cobra into second and mash it. POW!! Look over at the WS6, DEAD EVEN! Both cars are flying down this long straight outer road, neck and neck just waiting for third. I hear the blower SCREAMING, the boost gauge is buried, and the Cobra is throwing me in the seat. Here comes third... POW!! The WS6 driver shifts and gets a half a car. I have it to the floor and am screaming at the Cobra to move. Never caught up to him. We both killed it @ 115 mph with the WS6 about a 3/4 of a car ahead. Pretty dissappointing, but the guy had a fast car. We went back to the bar, had a few beers, and told ricer stories for a good part of the night. Looks like it's bolt on time for the Snake...

Open up your exhaust and induction... then say bye-bye to your WS6 buddy....
The 03 Cobras are choked from the factory and respond extremely well to these simple bolt ons....

I agree, get that lightning pulley, open up the exhaust ALL the way, get some DRs too. A guy in my neighborhood put DRs on his Cobra already, looks sweet. The car is capable of mid 11s@120mph.

WTF is wrong with your Cobra!!! I was totaly expecting an LS1 rape story...but this is just plain disgusting. From all the reports and amazing stories 5.0 mag puts out about this car you should have eaten that POS like a twinkie. And its not like you can blame anything on wheelspin or a bad launch because you went from a roll. Even with a blower the 4 cam 4.6 couldnt take a bolt on LS!?!!! Something has to be wrong here.
Anyone else here the rumors from 5.0 mag about the new blower pulley adding over a HUNDRED RWHP for the 03 Cobras?

Nice run. I thought, though, on 03 Cobras that 6500 was fuel shut off. Maybe i am wrong.
BTW an exhaust, lid, etc LS1 can trap around 110-111 mph here in south florida on street tires. With your Cobra that sounds like a fair run.

There is a guy here with a convertible 03 cobra and he is getting smoked religiously by the LS-1 crowd. Some of the guys that I have beat have beaten him.
I thought about racing him myself, if I beat him it would be just too sad They hooked a G-tech up to his cobra and it only ran a 13.88. who knows

I still have faith (not blind devotion..lol) in the 03's . I think the TA might have been hiding something on you..If not that is one mean A** N/A TA. Even guys on the LS.1 site are talking about 112 to 117 traps and low 12's with exhaust mods on an 03. Install the pulley and exhaust and tell us about that monster smoking him next time.
HAVE FUN 1994 Cobra

I don't trust G-Tech's at all... For one reason, when I had my truck I placed it in the exact location as the instructions said, and made sure it was level.... Well, after I made my firs run, the thing told me I ran a 10.87 @ 74MPH.... Now tell me that's not messed up, you can fool G-Techs very easliy, take one and do a hard take off, then idle for a sec, then slam it again... If you do it right, it will read all kinds of numbers..... I don't think tha guy in the Cobra knows how to drive his car to its potential, that or there's something wrong on it...

Maybe he had a nice little 75 shot???
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... 1) smaller blower pulley; 2) free-flowing exhaust; 3) drag radials 4) Pro-5.0 or equivalent shifter 5) a competent driver = darn quick 2003 Cobra. Period. The trap speeds alone on these cars indicate some serious power under the hood. E

That T/A Could easily be trapping 112, right around where most stock 03 cobras are. Nothing to worry about.
Dark, your (Excuse me but...) kissing LS1's asses. Its nothin to be ashamed of to loose to a LS1, who CARES. Why get a lightning pulley, get the one MM&FF got, and get 14.5PSI boost, why go half ***, go all the way. Do that, ditch the silencer if you havn't already. Get some exhaust and your all set. Skyler

Im jealous It must be nice to have a car where all you need to do is install one pulley and and exhaust system to pretty much rape everything on the road. good luck and keep us informed.

I admit, I don't know much about track talk. What exactly are trap times? Is 112-117 (what you guys were saying) a good or bad trap time?

That's the speed you are going when you trip the laser at the end of the 1/4 mi....
0-112MPH in 1/4mi seems fast in my book....

112-117
112-117 is fast for any street driven car. The trap speed is an average of the last 60 ft. of the 1320'. The actual speed at the 1320' is actually a little higher than the trap speed on the time slip.
At one time in the past, they averaged the speed from 30' before the 1320' to 30' after the 1320'. That just made folks keep their foot in it after the finish line to improve the trap speed. That's why we have it the way it is now. Rev

this was a good race both of these two cars are factory authorized terrors, even the WS6 is even with mild bolt ons could take out a modded LS1 z28. so its nothin to be sneezed at. there is more at work here than jus losin a race. look at the 03's mods an where she could be opened up. definetly what ever factory emissions crap was on there has GOT TO GO! simply from a performance P.O.V. a chip wouldn't hurt i'm guessn either, N20... whatever else you want. the car is one half of the equation, learning how to race it is another huge part of the factor. but rememeber, there are people out there faster than you, to not admit this is to live a lie an to live a lie is to be ignorant. an to be igorant is to have lost already.

According to the oct. issue of 5.0&SF, they say this for the 03' stock cobra:
Bassani X-pipe - 25-35 RWHP Long-tube headers - 20RWHP Replacing Eaton pulley with Lightning (from 8 to 12psi) - 60 RWHP One place offering a package, the headers, a new pulley, and a custom chip claims 500+ RWHP. The final, properly breaking in the Beast adds (somehow) 10-20 RWHP. These stats are from an article (p. 187-188). Sounds like there are quite a few hidden ponies in this Beast.

Found one more...
"With an air filter, a smaller pulley, an X-pipe, and an after-cat, you can see as much as a 120RWHP gain. Try that in your 5.0 Mustang."
