modded tt supra, against friends 347....
Well the supra driver is a friend of ours, but i rode to sonic with my buddy, (you all heard my post) about his 85 notch, stage 3 trickflows, longtubes, 4.10's too much too list. we were taliking to him, he said his supra went low 13's 111, with a boost leak, so we are thinking, no problem, being my friends stang goes low 12's 114 on motor.
We say too many cops, we will run another day, but all 3 of us (lots of extra weight) get in the stang and leave, the supra follows us to the access road,(unplanned) i say "stop and let him get next to you" so we slow to a 20mph roll in 1st, the supra pulls along side, we take off 1st, i swear the wheels almost came up! we pulled like 5 cars on him, then let off big mistake! that toyota was still racing, so my budd punches it in 3rd (should have kept pulling) and the supra starts walking bye, he had momentum, and boost already built up, this time around 90 mph. we stayed close, but he kept slowly walking. My point? from a stop he was toast, but he said (supra) he was downshifting, and wasnt ready? YEA RIGHT! we all know about those supras around 60-70 mph roll races can be downright sick! about 120 we shut down. my other point, my friend isnt gonna be a stranger to that 150 shot of gogo juice now, just because he runs low 12's n/a? they both realize it wasnt a fair race for anyone, and we are planning another one for bragging rights, i told him SPRAY! all the way! but they both have respect for eachothers cars, i'll keep posted on what happens on a FAIR race ------------------ 90 lx coupe: 5spd, energy susp trans mounts, fms hd clutch, Mac coldair fenderwell, Mac h-pipe, supercoil, ADS chip, 160 stat, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs. Best time: 13.9116(on 225/60/15 firehawks) Best mph: 98.17 Best 60': 1.9607 someday mods:4.10's, slicks. |

Let me tell ya, a heads and cam mustang will most likely need nos, or blower to keep up with a supra around higher speeds, those things will shoot to 160 mph like nothing!
Now im dreaming up another combo for my ride, 331 with turbos |

Well, when you've only got him by 1mph through the traps and he's leaking boost, chances are the extra weight is gonna make it a real close race.
Nice run. Lame-o excuse from Supra boy. |

you got it unit, the boost is fixed now, so i would estimate 12.5 @ 115 or so, hehe, and my friend was thinking of taking off the nos....no way! the supra guy has some $$ though, he's having another motor built that is estimated to go 140 traps with nos

Run what ya brung. Hook up the giggle gas and then run Capt. rice. If your buddy in the stang doesn't run jucie tell your buddy in the supra to loose the boost, then It'll be fair.

I ran a regular Supra from a slow roll yesterday, and got him by several lengths to 60. I wasn't sure he was gonna go so i just started out moderately fast (1/2 throttle). He went ahead about 1/4 length, so I hammered it and blew by him. We were on a city street so I let off at 60. he waved and then turned off.
Seemed like he may have been an auto tranny? Do they even make them with autos? Rev ------------------ '66 Coupe, 306, 300 HP, C-4, 13.97 e.t., 100.3 mph 1/4 mi. |

I'm not 100% sure of this but I heard it from a rice guy who has 2 supras that from 93 up or so they all came with autos here in the U.S. Something about the sticks being illegal. I dunno probably was pulling my leg. Also said that the auto turbos are quicker in the 1/4 than the sticks. Probably was just defending his auto supras.

I agree, but his car came stock with the turbos, so it shouldnt be considered a power adder? but who cares, the supra must go down! they were gonna run tonight, but decided not to just yet, many cops around
I told my friend just to hit the nos in 3rd if he needs to, cuz his car launches hard as hel1 already without. Cant play around with a turbo supra, if ya got a lead, dont back off until you know the race should end. he also wants to back down to a 100 shot, his t-5 may not survive a 150 shot...oh well. |

Turbos are power adders. It makes no difference if they were installed by Toyota or Billy Bob under a shade tree

It's only a 180 cubic inch six cylinder and it came with a turbo it isn't like you can just take it off. A V8 with almost twice the cubes should be a pretty fair race without any power adder.

A stock MKiv supra tt (93.5-97.5) has 320hp from an inline 3.0 6 cylinder. They come in auto and with a 6 speed manual. A 6 speed will normally run the 1/4 in high to mid 13's depending on the driver. The auto became the only option for the n/a supras after 96. The n/a's are low 15 sec cars to mid 14's in the 1/4.
They are a very hard car to launch making them bad in the 1/4. At speed not many stock cars will stay with them. And once they start modding, well 400-500hp can be seen with a cost of about $2000-$3000, which dirt cheap. Why, cause it is easy to add boost to a turbo, and the stock internals will hold over 500hp. Now if you start running into t/t's that have been converted to a single turbo, you really have to watch out. Most singles run low 11's, high 10's.
