Look up "Opentrack" events in your local area.

I put on 3 events per year for SAAC-MotorCityRegion SAAC-MCR.NET - Websites for the Motor City Region

Seat time is all you need. You can even go to Hertz and rent a car for the first day... It not WHAT you drive, the that you DRIVE!

Now get out there and get hooked on in!

What kind of tires should I run?

Drag radials on the rear?

Is a roll cage required?

I want to have fun and above all "be safe".

You don't need all that to get started and to check it out. Go to the Site of a Local Road Race track and sign up for one of the Driver's Edge courses. An Instructor will be with you and help you learn the Track and Your Car. You need a Safe and well Teched Car, a DOT Helmet, Good Tires, Brakes and a good learning attitude.
