Question Help with fuel sending unit install on 68 mustang

My dad has a 1968 Mustang and we recently had the tank relined and we put in a new sending unit. We have everything hooked up, but when you crank it over it is not getting any gas. I kept unhooking the lines looking for gas but no luck. I even unhooked it where it comes out of the sending unit at the tank and I only got a couple drops. I had poured in about 4 gallons of gas. I think I should at least get gas coming out of the tank. Anybody have any ideas or pics of their unit. Can it be put in upsidedown?

Take a air hose and blow in the line, back into the tank. Retry. If no luck, looks like its comming out again.

Default bubbling?

If you do blow into the line as mustangII460 advised, you should get some slight resistance and detect some bubbling inside the tank. If not, then the pick up (the tube with the sock on it) is above the gas in the tank and is probably installed incorrectly. When the unit is installed, the pick up tube should be angled down towards the bottom of the tank. It also is possible that who ever sold you the sending unit could have given you the wrong one. That happens frequently in the parts business.

What kind of pump (mechanical or electric), and where is it mounted?
