F150/Expedition catback anyone?
my dad has a 98 5.4L expedition 4WD and he has been wanting to get a mean sound to it for a while (mainly from hearing my car )
has anyone here bought one of the catback kits and is happy with it, the only ones i've seen are flowmaster forceII (in summit)and dynomax (in jegs) both just a little over 200 bucks, but they dont say what the kit comes with, he'd like to have dual pipes out the back but thats not completely necessary if theres a really good sounding kit that doesnt have duals, what exactly do these kits have? anywhere else to look? or should i just have him get a single muffler with 2 outlets and have an exhaust shop do the rest? whats on your guys' trucks? ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, full exhaust,65mm TB, Nitto DR's, new best 1/4--> 13.42@106.18 (1.89 short time) |

I bought and installed an Edelbrock cat-back kit for my '95 F150 about a year ago, and love it! Just like the neme implies, it replaces everything after the cat. Mine becomes a dual at the muffler, and has the two pipes exiting next to each other right behind the passenger side back tire. Sounds killer and revs faster. Installation was a breeze after I got the old pieces out. That part was tough, and unless you have an air compressor or a good die grinder with cutting wheels, you may have to have a shop do it.
My buddies Dad just bought an 2001 F150 crewcab, and he went straight to Borla and bought a cat-back for it and had his other son install it for him. Cost him around $400, but it's the best there is. He also installed a K&N FIPK at the same time, and said the difference was like night and day. He loves the fact that he installed both, and says he would do it exactly the same again. I have a true dual exhuast on my 5.4 f150. I have the flowmasters. It sounds so damn good. It is awesome. I just went to a muffler shop and told them to put on a true dual exhuast for me. It is a great sound. I love it.

Wait until you have to get it smogged. if you're in California, it's illegal.
