How do I get the antenna base off of the fender? Can i get at it from under the hood or do i have to get in through the wheelwell.

You can remove the whip with I think a 3/8 box wrench. The base is covered with a metal cap. you can pop that off with a small screw driver from the front or the back. Once that is off you can see there are 3 phillips screws and the antenna base will come off. The hard part is routing the antenna cable.
