Question new owner ....gears?

Hi, I am the new owner of a 1997 Mustang GT convertible...I know a little about them but I was wondering what would be the most cost effective way to improve 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I'm a 17 year old kid on a fixed income lol....i was thinking swapping my 2.73 gears (i'm not sure but i think those r wat is stock) for 4.10 or 4.56 gears.... any suggestions or comments on the gear issue? Also...if i do get new gears...after the installation...waht must also be altered to the car? the speedometer gear i heard? anything else???

Also how about one of those Jet performance modules....

my car is stock except for a k and n filter....

please give me some advice....all the help is greatly appreciated!!!

thanks,
Paul

Here is another .....alot of people told me that if you want to go faster you have to stop faster......

i have 17 inch rims (not sure if that matters)

should i get bigger brake calipers ? if so wat size do you all reccomend for me?

also should i upgrade suspension? if so what should i do there?

If cash is an issue, don't go with brakes. If you want to improve your 0-60 time cheap, go with gears, tires, some rear suspension stuff, and maybe an hpipe for some low end grunt. What tranny do you have? If stick, do this: 3.73 gears, upper and lower control arms, nitto drag radials, and a Mac prochamber. If auto, do all the above cept go with 4.10's, and get a chip too. It'll shift much harder. I timed my 0-60 in my auto GT at 6.0 stock, and with gears, exhaust, pulleys, air intake, and a chip, I've gotten that down under 5flat, severely traction limited. (tires and rear suspension are next) Good luck to you.

scew that.

Get 4.11's or 3.73's if you do a lot of highway driving. 4.56's would be too steep.
