Mercedes C240
I took my Gramps out for a ride in my Mustang the other day, I have had it a year now and he wanted to see what all the fuss was about... We left my house and went out onto the main road that leads to the next town as it has a big straight... As we approached the straight I came up behind the Mercedes following a Vauxhall Astra (poopy eurobox) I thought to myself, "I'll just nip past them", as I pulled out the Mercedes suddenly swung out in front of me, no problem I thought, I will take him when he has passed the Astra, I was in 4th and gave it about 1/2 throttle, I noticed he was still pulling away from me, so I thought sod it (bear in mind my Gramps is in the car!) and buried the pedal in the carpet, obviously I overtook him but it took the poor old girl up to an indicated 125mph to do it!! Not really a kill I suppose, but the fact I had to nail it with my 81 year old Gramps in the car made it more fun! We got back to my house after and he said, "Its quite fast isnt it? I think we went about 90mph" I just let him think that....

Cheeky monkey!! Yeah, over here 150 hp cars are considered fast, so blasting past them leaves them wondering what happened!!! Also, there are hardly any V8 cars at all so I get plenty of looks whereever I go! In answer to your other question, my Stang is not king, there are some well tasty modded ones here too, not many, but some! Check out www.ukstreetracers.com and see....

Nice page... the fact that they have 15-16-17 and 18 sec cars listed on there cracks me up though! If you threw some heads/cam/intake/nos on your stang it would be one of the fastest cars in the country! Wish I could say as much over here

Easier said than done when for every $100 you spend you can add at least another $50 before you get it here! All in good time!! We have a series called the Street Eliminator where the fastest cars run high eights @ 160+mph although they are obviously high dollar cars!! One of the latest additions is a 96 Cobra with a 525cui Ford that did a shakedown run of 10.33, plenty more to come from that one! Check out a pic at www.customcarmag.com

There are some high dollar (pound) Jags and Aston Martins that kick butt in the UK aren't there? And BYW, Stoplightwarrior doesn't really mean to be a "cheeky monkey". He was just born that way, hee, hee.

Ever see any newer TVR's on the road out there or are they pretty rare? I love the Cerbera.

UK Stang. surprises me that you guys use our system over there instead of your metric system. e.g. 1/4 mile. what is that km?

Hehehe!! Yeah, a bloke I work with has got a TVR Chaimera, its a right beast and whoops the Mustang bad, never raced, too afraid! 0-60 in 4.5 seconds or something!!
Our system is daft over here, we have metric for somethings and then imperial measurements for others! I think 1/4 mile is about 400 meters (like Gran Turismo on the PS1/2) Skip |
