Gear Drivin timing

I am putting together a 302. I am changing the timing chain to gear drivin. The timing cover is hitting the new gears where there use to be a space. Do I need to get a new cover or can I cut that peice out of the cover and get enough clearence? If I need to get a new cover I am not sure what I would look for or where to look. Any advice will help. Thank you.

Where? What? is hitting? What other cover would you buy?

You can probable relieve it with a grinder. Depends on where and how much.

Why go to gear drive?? Just get a good double roller chain.

you realize that when you put a gear drive in it's going to be insanely loud right?
It's literally going to sound like you have a 400 hp blender running in front of your engine.
If you LIKE this sound, as alot of guys do, then by all means. I'd say yeah the only option you really have that I know about is taking a die grinder or dremel tool to your current cover, assuming you don't need very much to clear away

You do have to grind on that little slanted piece that juts out between the two gears and inside the chain normally. But be careful not to remove too much or your idler gears won't be in full contact with cam and crank gears and premature wear happens. Grind some and dry fit it with some clay to check clearance.

toss the gears in the garbage and do what gearhead said, find yourself some good double roller chains
