Vortech Supercharger info
I have always been about Normally Aspirated motors, and after seeing a friends vortech suped 5.0, I got curious. Im looking for a mild application s.c., that can pass cali emissions test. I want to make around mid 300's hp, and want to build good power right to the rev limiter. I was thinking of adding a cobra intake and porting the stock heads along with whatever s.c. I might buy. My question is what vortech s.c. would be best with my requirements, i know next to nothing about superchargers and any information would be great, thanks in advance for your reply's.

The Vortech A-trim kits are good up to 450hp and safely operated to 10psi of boost.
I have seen them very cheap(around $1850) you can start with a 6lbs pulley then work your way up to the 8-9lbs pulley later on. You'll be able to reach 300hp EASY! The only thing I'm not sure of is,the California emissions testing. ------------------ Paxton Blown 87GT ICQ#91504337 |

How much hp does the A-trim put to the wheels with 6psi? And from what I understand, the way to raise boost is to get a new pulley, is that correct? I am newly learning about blowers as well.

Im not exactly sure what the A trim puts to the ground at 6psi, but the S trim on a bone stock engine at 8 psi put a 91 lx down the quarter in 12.7 with drag radials and an aod. (about 350 hp at the flywheel) Vortech advertises the A trim to add 75 hp at 6 psi.
I have one additional question, being that i have a certain purpose for the supercharger, and i dont want or need a whole lot of boost, i think i might go with the A trim, but i hear that the bearings in the A trim arent as good, and the term really old technology was used... this true?? |

I've seen the term "aod" on this board a couple times in the last couple days... what does it stand for? Hopefully it's not too obvious...

AOD is the automatic transmission that comes stock with mustangs. Stands for Automatic Over-Drive.
