Question Fuel Pressure 80 PSI???

I just installed a Walbro 155 LPH fuel pump and my fuel pressure has risen to 80-85 PSI???
i noticed that the fuel pressure w/ the key on engine off goes to 20 PSI. Then i start it and it shoots up to 80-87 PSI. Then after a minute or two the car starts to drop rpm from 850 to 500 and shoots back up and its constant and at those point the fuel pressure drops to 20 Psi??
Also when i adjust the Reg there is no diffrence in the pressure it stays the same??

What happens to the pressure when you shut it off?

hey Chris,
How is everything?
Well When i turn it on engine off pressure is normal 35 psi. But when i turn it on it sky rockets to 80 psi and drops to whatever 20,60... within a minute of the car running. I tried it the way you said and the pressure dropped to 40 from the 80+ and has stayed there.
any ideas?

I dont know if this has any thing to do with that fuel pressure prob but now the car wont idle down to normal. i have to stand on the brakes in order for them to stop the vehicle. If i were to put the car in neutral at a stand still the car is rev'd to 2000 rpm??

Check the return line. You probably pinched it when you put the tank back up. Seen it happen a few times and it causes the fuel pressure to shoot through the roof.

Jeff, Which of the lines is the fuel return line???is it the pair of 1/2 inch lines or the smaller single 1/4 in line? If it were kinked how would i unkink the line??

also on the aod the little block for the tv cable adjustment is busted is the ford dealership the only people that sell it? How much would it cost?

Return line is the one that doesn't run through the fuel filter. Alot of times when putting the tank back up it'll get pinched between the top of the tank and bottom of the car. Loosen the tank straps and make sure that its not pinched.

As far as the TV connection, Ford is probably the best place to get it. I wouldn't think it'd be much $$$ though. Not sure though since my AOD doesn't use the TV; I've got a full manual VB.

jeff,

I will loosen the straps and see what happens. I called ford and they only the whole cable assembly!!! and its 60 dollars and on top of that i dont know how to install it and will probably end up frying the transmission if i tried.
Thanks any way.

If the pump is running at 80 psi willl it be damaged??
o and i ran the codes just to see if something came up and got codes 42 92 the hego sensor is running rich? would that have anything to do w/ the prob..

The high idle and the rich exhaust are results, not causes. Check the return line.

Take care,
-Chris

If the regulator has zero effect, return it.

Take care,
