Finally got a race! 99 Cobra!
Well, beign that I live near Detroit and have to suffer through the winter, I only take my Mustang out on nice days. I went for a spin tonight and started pacing a new black Cobra.
I goosed it a few times and he did not bite. Then when I signal for my exit off the freeway he stops the gas! So I passed up my exit for some fun. I dropped to 3rd at around 3800 rpm and let him take the move. He hammers the gas and takes off with me a tick behind to start. I start pulling, and as 3rd winds out I start pulling harder and harder. I shifted into 4th with about a 2-3 car lead. I hit the next exit to turn around and go home. He followed, honked, and waived. Cool I was jonesin' for a race so bad I would have gladly raced a riced out Honda at that point. At least I got to race a real car! ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 12.0 @ 121 on radials S-trim Vortech sitting in a box! |

Good Race. I'm guessing you are not runnin speed density on the '88. I've been wanting to convert mine, but I got a Cobra instead. Guess I'll invest in a S/C.

I'm assuming you ran him off the juice huh? When are you putting the supercharger on? Nice kill... all the guys i've seen running new cobras will never race(usually older).

Nice kill. It's cool to hear he wasn't a pr*ck and gave you a honk and a wave.

I did race him an all motor. A 20 degree nitrous bottle just fouls out my spark plugs.
I actually dynoed my car on the juice and it went to around 390 ft lbs at 3K and then dropped like a stone. It made 330 hp at the wheels, on nitrous! That is pathetic! The Vortech will go on as soon as I get some nice weather to work in. It will be nice not to have to worry about empty, or low pressure frozen bottles. |

Yeah, I guess the 2800 lb curb weight does not hurt....
