99 Cobra Problem
I just got a 1999 Cobra and I have been reading in several places that Ford messed up on the building of the engins and decreased the hp output. It is said that due to decreased compression, that the hp is near 260 rather then the advertized 320. Has anyone heard of this and does anyone know how I can find out if my Cobra is affected? (Other then a Dyno) I would also like to know if there is a fix offered. I am considering a supercharger but want to make sure I am at 320hp first.

Ford had a recall for the '99 Cobra to fix that problem. Cant remember what all was changed but maybe someone else here might. A dealership should be able to run VIN number to see if car was fixed or not.

I know some of the probs. The intakes were replaced, they had some massive flash in the castings. And I believe the the exhaust was replaced because it was "To restrictive", But I'm not all that sure about the exhaust. Now that I think about it, I wonder if they routed it diffrently. I saw a 99 Cobra, and a 2001 Cobra, and I noticed something was diffrent from the two underneath the rear.

99 Cobra Problem
Thanks guys. I did check with a local Ford dealer and they said the fix was done. I've owned 4 Mustangs before this and it just doesnt feel quite like 320hp. Oh well. When I get some time it will be much higher then 320.
