2002 Gt vs. Me any bets?
A friend of my little brothers just got a 2002 Gt for his 16th birthday. It has a K and N and a X-pipe. He thinks he can mop the floor with me what do you guys think. My best on street tires is a 14.3 at 96mph. (13.9 at 98mph on slicks) I have no idea what a 02 gt can do.

Sounds like a real good race. Your pretty equal on power, he may have just a bit more on top, so put on the tires and drive your *** off!

Well I'll def. tell ya one thing, it will all depend on how good of a driver this 16 year old is. At the track I've seen everything from 13.8's to 14.5's for those similar mods. Personally I raced a guy in an 01 GT with a Superchip and K&N filter and I beat him 14.50 to 14.57. That was a pretty crappy run for me- 2.332 60'. His best ever in that car is a 14.2somethin. I'm gonna guess this 16yr old can't drive too well and if you have your slicks, I'm gonn have to put my money on you.

Some day I hope, I work on the weekends for Sprint and am trying to find something during the week. It won't be til after X-mas when I can get a weekend off to head down there. It's probably going to be a good 3-4 hour trip and then we gotta find some one to watch our dog, which probably won't be too big of a problem. But I def wanna head down there and run Moroso. Talk to ya later.

02's are quick. Does it have a 5-speed or a auto? I have seen stock 5-speeds run 13.80's at around 101MPH. If he want to race, keep the slicks on.

You think so, But if I loose I'll never live it down. But your right he can't drive. Plus I guess he can't always use the slicks as an excuse.

Hey, just a word of advice....my friend owns a 99GT 5spd, and we used to race each other all the time on the street and it was always close, especially from a stop since my car would spin the heck out of the tires in first and second gears, but from a roll that was a different story.....anyway, everyone keeps commenting on the fact that he is 16 and probably can't drive...I guess none of yall have driven a new GT, you can launch one of those cars with your eyes closed-it doesn't take a real pro drive one of the new cars, so just to let you know be careful because his age doesn't matter as much as the fact that he is one very very easy car to drive......try racing him from a roll so that he can't use that against you....btw my friends GT only had flowmasters and the silencer removed and it ran 14.1@98 and he was only 16 at the time. Anyway, just my .02, good luck and let us know how you do.
