Yeah, high flow cat, filtercharger, K&N, high flow exhaust = 15hp over a strong stock 87GT. I'll actually bump timing on this run, and if my car isn't making 260hp, then I'd be suprised. I already told you, it IS a freak. There aren't any doubts in my mind about that after decimating stock 5.0's my friends 87GT, LT-1's beating LS-1s. I haven't even "scheduled" a race where the GM owner has actually walked the walk after talking the talk, sedanman. In case you can't read, take a look at my original post about how I got the kills. I didn't get my kills from other people not racing. You're a little punk sedanman. I'll be glad to beat your friends, expect me to be a sore winner and rub it into your face too, idiot. Stoplight Warrior get a clue. Your 15hp with an additional 200lbs and an auto isn't gonna pull my car. If you can't run with LS-1s, that's all the proof I need. You can't even run with them, and I beat them. What more do you want? Maybe your car runs better against other Mustangs The only reason I'm agreeing to this is to shut all the idiot LS-1 humpers on this board up. It's so old. I'm so fricken tired of hearing it. I was scared to death when I ran my first one. Then the 2nd, and mildly the 3rd. Now I'm not. Respectful cause I don't win by much from a roll, but a wins a win. I have three, the LS-1 has 0. |

This is the last thing I'm going to say on this topic. I need to get a clue?? I need to get a clue??? You sound like a freaking idiot talking about your tired, underpowered 87 GT beating up on FAR SUPERIOR rides. Granted, you know your stuff about cars, not saying you don't, don't think I'm bashing you. But saying you would beat my GT is just plain insulting. New GT's with pulleys intake, exhaust and gears do not lose to 87 GT's. I don't, no one does. That is why the new GT's got so much credit. Touted as the "FASTEST STANGS EVER," and with good reason. Seriously, you can't think your stock GT could take mine?? Can you?? But please, keep in mind, no hard feelings here, it's all bench racing anyway, and I have nothing against you personally. You know I never have flamed anyone who knew their **** before, but when you attack my ride, i take it personally...

I've raced many (10?) LS-1's at the track. Most have lost to me until the 1000' mark, but then they have come right by me beating me by a small margin at the 1320'. They mostly run 13.5's to 12's with mods. Most stock '87's would be lucky to hit high 14's or low 15's here at HRP. I can't really see how there is much comparison. But I guess anything can happen.

I pull LS-1 cars up to about 45-50 (right about when I bite second gear), and then they're at my bumper, my door, my front bumper...and they're gone. I'm usually a full car back starting from third gear. Past that, it's a lost cause (vs. an auto).
If your 87 is a factory freak, and the SD cars are as fast as you say, I can believe you're pulling LS-1s on the street.

I have only lost to one LS1 by the way and he didn't pull me hard at all, 2 cars to 100 and that was before my gears, chip, intake. They're not invincible in all cases, but they are definitely not to be taken lightly. And yes, the cobra is in storage till it goes into the shop on May 14th.

I ususally just lurk in the background and dont post, but I wanted to chime in. It probably doesnt mean much since I am Mercury's friend, and you'll probably just say Im lying to help prove his point, but I was at the 5.0 civil wars in Rockingham. I witnessed the Bullet run 13.6-13.66 at 104 mph three times in the four hours I was there. I talked to him in the pits. He was running stock street tires at 25psi, and I peeked under the car, as well as looked in his open trunk and hood (he was detailing it at the time), and he was BONE stock down to the plastic cover over the rear seat, and the 4800 miles on the odometer. He said he was there to watch a friend run a fox body mustang, and the friend talked him into running his (wife's ) new car.
On a side note most of the 99+ GT's Ive seen run at the track have trapped between 99-104 MPH, and most LS1 (Z28 or Trans Ams -- no SS or WS6) between 101- and 106 MPH. Just for the record my best run at Fayetteville Test and Tune Night (where they are notorious for not prepping the track-- spin city) was a 13.67 at 102 /2.1 60' and .555 reaction I spun halfway through first and again at the beginning of second. I normally run between 13.7 and 13.9, but I baby the car cause I have a fear of breaking something in front of a crowd of people . Mercury in the few times we've run on the street before I got the headers usually hangs with me, but he's a lot harder driver than me. Tim C |

This reminds me of the guy with a "Freak" Toyota Solara that was beating Cobras.

As far as me not respecting them? That would be dumb. I refuse to believe my car can run a low 13. No way. It just can't do it. LS-1's have been known to pull that feat off. If one of the LS-1s I race gets a low 13 run in, I just cannot beat him. |

Kickin some A**
Unit! I personally have run down some big horsepower cars in my "Freak" escort. Acutally both of my cars have handed it to decent middleweights. I must say that lighter cars with less power have an advantage. Not to metion that you actually DRIVE your car.
There is a reason that Don Garlit is a drag legend. Not because his cars were freaks, or he was some godlike driver. A consistently good driver with a consistent car will consistently win. I also know those fox bodies are faster than people give them credit for being. So go beat up on some LS1's, and put an end to all this BS. I thought this was a Mustang site for Pete's sake. What happened to the good old days where if you ran Ford's you never kissed Bowtie Behind??

I thought you were saying that even though LS1's run low 13's that your GT must be quicker than that, meaning you had a very low 13 sec "freak" on your hands. But it is certainly believable that anything can and will happen on the streets.

I am sure if I searched the archives I could find out...UNIT - did you buy your '87 new in 1987 (with almost 0 miles on the odo)? If not, how could you be sure it is stock? If you bought it new - maybe you got a "pre-SVT super-secret test car"... as opposed to the "Friday" car my '91 POS was!
