![]() Well since quick trip to the track last week and pulling a 13.6 out of my stock motor I have desided not to go with a new motor.I'm going to go with the Jr. heads. Is there anything I need to know before getting these heads. Are these heads ped or studs, is there any problems with headers, will I have any problems with smog equipment? Thanks for your help.

![]() The heads should come assembled with 7/16" studs, so you need some new rockers. Everything else just bolts on. The emissions stuff is already drilled in the back of the head, and any header that works on a OEM 302 head will work on the Windsors.
Now, if I remember correctly, there are some threaded plugs (hollow...threaded inside and outside with notches for a screw driver in the edge) that are in holes in the front of the stock heads. You need these. One of them mounts the big bolt used with the accessories on the driver's side. Be sure to swap 'em out. Besides that, you may want to do some clean-up work on the heads. There's a pretty good amount of casting flash. --nathan ------------------ --silver_pilate '91 GT, Built 306, Wolverine 1087 cam, ported Windsor Jr. Irons, and all the goodies...click the link to the left to see a full list of my mods... ![]() As I recall, the valve springs are really weak on these heads and should be replaced before seeing any decent rpm (eg., 6000). That info comes from Super Ford from about 7 years back. Since then, I don't know if World Products started using better valve springs. Maybe someone else can chime in (?).

![]() Yep...I ordered mine stage 1 from Keith Craft. They assemble them with good stuff: 1.460 springs, 7/16th studs and guide plates, Manley Street Flo valves, etc.
Only thing I had to change was the valve seals. They used the cheap umbrella seals, and half of them were a size too big. I bought some good spring-type seals and o-ringed them for good measure. --nathan ------------------ --silver_pilate '91 GT, Built 306, Wolverine 1087 cam, ported Windsor Jr. Irons, and all the goodies...click the link to the left to see a full list of my mods... ![]() I have a set of the jr's and I think that they are a great set of heads. Like SILVER_PILATE said they do need a touch up job. I had a problem getting the plugs in and out with the headers on. I could not get a socket on them unless the headers were off.

![]() I have the Jrs. I think for the price they are the best. They really wake up your motor, and they are plenty capable of seeing big power in the future. They will outflow any of the Ford heads (eg GT40). Good luck!

![]() I have a pair of these heads. I have a problem with one of mine. I was performing some light clean up work, like removing casting flash and some very minor gsaket matching. On one of the runners the sanding wheel went through to the push rod hole from the intake runner. I am stil meaning to send it back cause I need it. Tried repairing it with a guide but it doesn't seal properly. The holes in the head(push rod holes, stud mount holes, valve guide holes and so on) are all drilled off-center. It is pretty bad. When you get a pair make sure to check them real well. Check all the runners, make sure everything is centered. I guess my casting got shifted for one reason or another when it was drilled. I have heard of a guy going through about 6 heads until he came across two he liked. It matters if you are going to do any work to the head. You are limited to how much material you can remove if things are off centered. The seals that came with my heads are the spring type. I guess they stopped with the umbrella seals.

![]() If you're heads have guideplates, and stud mount rocker arms, you'll definitely need a set of hardened pushrods, the stock ones won't work with the guideplates because they have a little ring around them which is too big for the guideplates.
You might also need a different set of valve covers to clear your roller rockers, or just modify the ones you have now. Just check the heads over for casting flash, etc, and you'll be alright. Any header for a 302 should fit, same with intakes. The plug for the smog passages in the front of the heads should come with the heads or already be installed. Getting the ones out of your stock heads will be next to impossible. If you're not sure, contact the people you're getting your heads from. Good luck with getting your credit from Excessive! |

![]() I have a set of older Windsor Jr's and mine seem to be made very well. This comming week, I'm having a machine shop try and drop in some 2.02 intakes and do some massive porting. We'll see how it goes. If they break, I think I'll go with canefeilds or AFR 205's
