![]() We are running an 87 Lx 5.0 with 5 spd. We have the entire tfs package including the tfs2 cam. The problem is that we only ran 12.97 and that was with 150 shot of juice!! That is a problem!! We are at 6000 ft but still a problem. The rest of the car includes 4.10 gears, 30 lb inj, 73mm mam, M/T et streets, full exhaust, pulleys, K&N, 70 mm throttle body, 1.7 rockers, and weighs 3200 with driver. Am I wrong thinking it should go faster? any advice would be appreciated!!

![]() Not sure of the altitude correction factor, but I would've expected better. What were other cars running and what mods did they have? The only part of your combo I don't like is the 30# injectors, I would've stuck with 24#'ers.

![]() Welcome to the world of high altitude. THere's no air up there. I can't recits corrections factors although there are sights on the web that have them. I'd say you are doing pretty good for 6000 feet.

![]() I dont know much about the altitude but sounds very slow. That sounds slow if it were just on motor. We run a 92lx with a five speed, holley heads, edelbrock intake and 24lb injectors and run 7.50's eighth mile. That should be high ll's. Maybe the altitude has everything screwed up... i dunno

![]() that is a little slow for that setup with nitrous. although the altitude is high nitrous doesnt require alot of air. it supplies its own oxygen when heated. perhaps you need a little tuning. i would expect to get mid to low 12's up there. the best thing you can do is talk to the track locals that are fast and ask for tips.

![]() Set FP at 42 timing at 10 put racing fuel or GOOD oct booster in it and put bottle PSI at 1250 i bet you will get what you want then. If youve got MSD regap the plugs to 042. Most people wont listen so its up2u.

![]() I know all about that altitude killing you. I am 4000ft+ where I live and it kills me. Here is a page where you can get conversions at. Just for info, converting your times is this:
11.997 et. Since I don't know your MPH I can't convert that for you. I don't know how close this is, but I'm sure it's not off by too much. Hope this helps. http://www.geocities.com/silver_pilate/altitude.html Chris [This message has been edited by Chris_H (edited 07-05-2001).] |

Just a question, but wouldn't 24lb injectors on 150 shot of nitrous with his combo be running a bit lean? I don't have the heads and cam and I'm considering 30lb injectors for the 150 shot. |

![]() I assumed the 150 shot was a "wet" shot, maybe it wasn't, it just seemed like an awfully big shot to be dry, most kits use a 50,75,80hp dry shot. The computer can measure the airflow into the motor but has no way of knowing the amount of oxygen in the mix, even with 30lb injectors you'd risk going lean with a 150 shot of nitrous because the computer would only supply fuel to match the airflow (from the mass-air sensor) unless aftermarket electronics were used to tell the injectors to supply more fuel.

![]() Dry kits go up to 150HP And 100HP can be used with stock injectors!!! (NOS)

![]() I stand corrected, the NOS dry system spikes the fuel pressure (wasn't too clear how they do this on their website) to account for the nitrous, so if it was a dry system than the 30lb injectors were about right.

![]() We have changed over to the 24 lb injectors and found much better throttle response. The timing was set at 8 initial is that not enough? mph were 104 and 60 ft times were 1.87 - 1.95. The altitude is a killer for sure but we have friends with alot less car running low 12's and high 11's on the 150 shot. It is a wet shot Nitrous Ex. kit. Should we consider 3.73 gears? thanks for all the info!!!!
