Default C-6 Questions

Hello,

I have heard that the C-6 trans is a Horse power hogs, I also noticed that they are the only automatic trans put in a mustang that has the bell housing for an FE engine. I was wondering if there are any ways of making a C-6 rob the rear wheels of less power. Any advice is helpfull.

Steven

PS

How good of a combo is Regular street tires, a detroit locker, and Traction bars for a big torque, low weight car? Thanks for any information

Actually it is a myth that the C-6 take more HP to turn. I have seen with my own 2 eyes a "tranny dyno" mesure how much power it take to turn several tranny's and suprisingly it take the same amount of HP to turn a c-6 as it does to turn a C-4 the disadvatange is the C-6 does have more overall weight. I actually am running quicker and faster with my C-6 then i was with my C-4 and not haveing to rebuild near as many tranny's in the process.

On your PS if you like to spin your tires it will make a good combo...IMHO The Detroit is the way to go if you don't want to drive a spool slappers properly set up can get you substantionaly more bite but without good tires you will never get it to hook "really" well.

What shaggy said.

And besides, with the FE, your stuck with the c-6, unless you run a toploader.
