Removing a Clutch Pilot Bushing

I'm trying to install an AOD in my '67 Mustang, which was originally equipped with a 3-spd manual tranny. The clutch pilot bushing is impeding the torque converter from seating properly. However, I can't get it out! I've busted two bearing pullers trying to remove the darned thing. Anybody out there know a way to remove it, short of cutting it out?!

the best old trick I know of is to pack the space behind the bearing with grease....make sure you get it as full as possible. You then need something to use as a driver...a metal rod or dowl that just barely fits inside the hole in the bearing. Striking the rod sharply with a hammer should force the bearing out. You have to find something that fits really good or all you'll do is squirt grease out. Good luck.

Worked for me! use a wooden dowel that fits tight
