![]() I raced one when I had the AOD and kept right up with him, but I don't know anything about the car.
Everybody keeps telling me they're very fast, and I kind of fear getting my a$$ kicked. Does anybody know what they run. Should I be able to take them now that I have 3.55's ------------------ 90LX Ragtop. 14.7@95.3 Strut tower brace, K&N, 2.25'' Flowmasters, Hollow cats, Crank pulley, Crane 2031, Crane rockers, Holley FPR, 155lph, Heavy duty clutch, and alum quadrant. ![]() I think your mid 14's might not be enough to hang w/ LS1's. Although it depends on the driver......how well does his guy drive? I wouldn't be afraid.....it's only a race - you never know what the outcome is gonna be.
Good luck. ------------------ '90 LX 5.0; 12K original miles (no sh*&); 3.55 gears; pulleys;Edelbrock Performer Heads; BBK shorties; MSD 6AL box w/ blaster 2 coil; Motorsport E303 cam; Pro-M 75mm MAF; BBK 70mm TB; Eibach spring kit; Southside welded subs; K&N cone filter charger; Hurst shifter; fiberglass turbo hood; A/C-less; rear seat-less; cat-less; 2 chamber Flos; Corbeau racing seats (fronts); 30# injectors; JMS Chip; 190 lb fp; TFS track heat Intake (12.299 @ 113) |

![]() Funny you mention that, i just got back from the track and i raced a 96 lt1, his best was 14.30's @99mph, he had me on mph but i was running 14.0's and 14.1's all night but @ 96-97, he was cool, he said he had exhaust headers to catback and k@n, he was like you must have alot of work done to your car, i was like "nope just a coldair and elctrc fan"
![]() so i say run him, but cut good reactions and 60's, thats where i get all camaros even ls1's but those cars start pulling hard about mid track to trap 104-106 mph ![]() ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil,ADS chip (not yet track tested),3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. ![]() They can be pretty quick. I lined up against a '95 Z-28 last night at HRP. He was heavily modded with heads, cam, exhaust, 3200 stall converter and I don't know what else. He ran a 12.57 to my 14.05.
I have beat stock ones on the street a couple of times. I agree with 90dpscoupe. I think stock, they probably run 14.3 or so. Might be a tight race. But what the heck, it'll still be fun. Anyone who races much is gonna get beat occasionally if he races anything worthwhile. Have fun but be careful. Rev ------------------ '66 Coupe, 306, 300 HP, C-4, 13.97 e.t., 100.3 mph 1/4 mi. |

![]() That's not too bad. I'm really not that worried about it, it's not like I won't race him if I think he's faster. I just wanted to know where I stood.
I was playin around with another one the day before I put in the new rear. It had BORLA in 2 foot letters down the side of his car, but other than that it was sweet lookin. He wouldn't race me from the stoplight, but around 50 he started coming up on me. I kind of got a jump on him and he stayed about three cars back up to about 120, but I wasn't trying to go any faster on the road we were on. (stock suspensions suck) I gotta say though when he passed me, those borla pipes sounded tight, but when I heard him cruising at 30mph it sounded awful. Real tinny sounding. |

![]() It depends. Can he drive? Is it a 6 speed?
I ran a best of 13.79@102mph with my 95 6-speed when it was totally 100% stock including filter. I averaged 13.9@101 when stock though. They produce max torque at 2300rpm so they are VERY hard to launch well. Drive well and you should take him. ![]() THE LS1 WILL GET YOU IF HE CAN DRIVE IT.MOST OF THE LS1 ,S ARE SPINNING THRU THE 60 FOOT LIGHTS THEN SHORT SHIFTING TO SECOND GEAR,THATS THE REASON YOU SEE THEM PULLING SO HARD AT MID TRACK REVING TO 5500 THRU THE GEARS AND RUNNING 13.50 1 RIGHT BEHIND THE OTHER NO BIG SECRET ON DRIVING.THESE CARS ARE BEGGING FOR SLICKS.IF THEY HAVE THE B F G RACE RADIALS DONT EVEN TRY UNLESS YOU ARE A HEAVY WIEGHT YOUR SELF.

![]() Hey SL67, it was an LT1 rather than an LS1. Quite some difference there from my experience. Maybe .5 seconds in the ET. Sock/stock anyway.

![]() I think it's funny that everyone is saying 95,96 Z28's are "dogs". They have 285 hp. Everyone has there opinion I suppose, I guess it's kinda like one of friends the other day telling me a new viper runs mid 13's. Believe what you want to believe, I'm not taking up for camaro's. As far as Lt1 vs. Ls1, The lt1 in the camaro(285hp)and the Ls1 in the new camaro Z has 310hp. But I think with your 3:55's if you get the start you should win. Good luck and be careful. =P

![]() Hey BAD, what's your guess on stock LT1 Camaros? I'm not trying to low ball them. Low 14's seems right to me, but as I've mentioned , mid 12's are possible with a lot of mods. I mainly am interestested in stock times. anything is possible with mods.

![]() Now i agree with rev, with mods are different, 285 hp and that heavier car, it would even out to my weight hp ratio, but the stang gets the holeshot, depending on driver, i would say that guy coulda beat me, because we had some very close runs, but he had modified exhaust i didnt, but he had poor 60ft's, but still i pulled hard thru 2nd still putting lenghts.
