Marty-

hey, what ever happened to Pos-A-Traction Torque Twisters? Those tires lasted forever! I bought my 69 SS Chevelle with brand new BFG's on it, and the back two were showing belts in 8 days (okay, I did own a 75hp Datsun just before buying the 375hp SS. What's your point?). After that, I bought some Torque Twister L60's that lasted almost a year! Hey, speakinbg of which, when did ALL tires go metric??? Our way was so much easier. Everyone knew what size was what. L60's, N50's (yeah, I had a piar of them once. Didn't need them, but wanted them enough to buy 'em), etc. Boy, now I'm fired up.

Rick-
Yeah, I like the first shirt better too (Sammy Swindel, full graphics).

Good guess on the truck, but it was the pick-up coil. Even though one had been replaced, Ford listed 3 different ones for this same truck, and couldn't specify which one was correct, but guessed (wrongly) that any of them would work. Sure enough, one did! The third one.

Everyone-
I love newbies. I love easy questions. They both make me feel smart! What bugs me, that I do believe could be easily remedied with my suggestion above (earlier post), is the lack of information given. I know that alot of people don't know what to say, which is why I think there should be a few questions to answer when posting a "help" thread, like the ones I mentioned before. Not everyone knows how to pull codes, and half of those that do never bother to run KOER codes as well, which are truthfully much more important. I guess I keep thinking about that network I'm in. Yesm all members are professional mechanics, but the protocols should be the same. It's really very simple: Do everything you know how to do before asking everyone else. When you get to the point where you don't know what to do next, or don't understand things anymore, post away. I know that this will be right away for many, but I think it would lessen some of the frustration that develops when a thread is really just a cry for attention from a bored kid, or worse, someone who is too lazy to even try to figure things out for themselves. If that's the way they feel, then come see me professionally. I get paid for doing this stuff outside of here. Why would I want to invest my time with some lazy slacker? They piss me off, too. Hopefully, most of you know that I really do try and help where ever I can, and I don't mean to be bitching, but while writing this, I just started to really resent those that expect US to do the work for them, for free. I'll help ANYONE who's trying to help themselves. Is this making sense?

I better stop now. I think my ankle pain is venting through my fingertips.

Peace.

Take care
~Chris

Ronny,

I dont want to piss anybody off by saying this but im gonna say what I feel anyways. Im a 17 year old high school student my first car was and still is a 93 LX 4banger when I first got it my car knowladge was this....I could put gas in it and thanks to all the ppl on here I feel that I can do quite a bit on my car now and people giving personal oppinions and tips from experience on questions like the 4 banger to V-8 swap have made me reconsider what all I am going to do to my car and I just feel like what you posted is a personal slam to anyone who wasnt born with a wrench in hand and the lil commoent about being broke I work my @$$ off at a freeking fast fodd restauraunt for what little money I have for me car I am in school in my high school band and still manage the time to keep my job so I can save money to do alot of the things you think are "stupid" and as for the bolt on commenet look at my sig I am not saying this is all gonna happen over night but like I said I have to scrimp and save to do anything and its all a learning experience for me so I think that YOU are the one who need to think about things before you post them you obvisouly dont care enough about anyone else who has a problem to try to help so I say this in closing I may not be able to afford to buy a car that will run 10's and I may not have one for a long time but while you bought one that already could and you not having to do much to it( I dont personally know your set up) but in the end who is going to appreciate ther run in the 10 sec range more the guy who didnt have to do anything or the guy who has been perfecting his car with evey nickle and dime he could save to get it?

As a teacher of mine likes to say, "the only dumb question is one that isn't asked." The only way to learn anything is to ask or read up about it, or of course experience. Some people when they post may be caught up in what they're asking and forget that they have to give specifics on their car.
I started out myself with a 4 cylinder mustang, and when i started learning about it i wanted options other than that wheezy 4 cylinder and i wanted to know how to swap a turbo or V8 in there. Now experience has taught me that it's cheaper just to buy a V8 car if you don't have a parts car or cheap available parts, but i didn't always know that. Everyone has to start somewhere is what i guess i'm saying.
Sometimes there are questions that are overposted on this board, but i just skip over them and go to other questions.

I'll second what Andy669 said. Ignore what you think is a dumb or irritating question and just move on.

WHAT???????PKRWUD IS NOT TELEPATHIC??????Crap! Well, anyway guys...I've been thinking about doing the following, tell me what you think...I'm on a low budget since I work 45 minutes a week at a gas station, and I finish the hour bagging groceries fifteen minutes a week. I just bought a used 1991 LX 4-cylinder car that has 287,000 ONE OWNER MILES!!! I got it for $25.00! What a deal eh? As soon as I find a frame shop that will unmangle it for nothing, I'll be on the road in no time. So, what do you guys think of these mods? If I can get a few minutes overtime here and there, I should have these mods done by my birthday (my 87th birthday). Here goes:
Chevrolet 632 c.i. 8-71 blown, .800" lift solid roller, billet steel ultralightweight, super tuff crankshaft with 14k gold journals, on pump gas of course
Chrysler 3-speed from my grammy's Valiant, should hold up, my friends said it was a tough tranny
I'll keep the stock rear end, I shouldn't need anymore than the 2.73's with that much power
I have about $124.67 right now, I'm almost at my goal. Do you think I can run in the nines witht his setup? Oh, and of course I'll have a 80mm throttle body on the speed density motor. What size oil pressure gauge would you use? How much air pressure do I need in the front right tire if I will be carrying two passengers in the rear when it's raining? My girlfriend weighs 121 pounds, do you think that's too much? I figure if the atomic weight of boron is less than 4, I should be able to hit the rev limiter while making pancakes in Jamaica. Thanks for all your help guys!!! I also just got this "5.0 POWER" tee-shirt, got that sold it to me said I should pick up four tenths in the 1/4 with it, not too bad for $75.00 don't you think?!?!?

Just to let your ppl know ahead of time so that no body get's mad with my "Silly" questions...
I AM AN IDIOT!!!

I know very little about cars except what I have been able to learn by those who are patcient enough and have the understanding we ALL had to start somewhere.
We did not all take mechanics or have a dad / BF to show us what things meant.
We can either go out and pay someone $60.00 to tell us something a friend could have told us and saved the money.
We could get ripped off by a mechanic who knows the person inquiring knows nothing about cars so they will tell you anything.
Websites like this help all people, even if it is just to see what someone else would think about a potential project you would like to do.
I am by no means saying all mechanics are crooks but it is better to go in with an better understanding of what could be the problem and not get taken for.
If I didn't have access to sites such as this to ask what I like, I would never have the ability to understand others experiences.
Sometimes ppl just watch the posts..that's how I learn alot also.
I just wanted to say this site is an important teaching aid to alot of ppl, even if "Annoying" for some.

All kidding aside, this site is a place where us Stangers can get together, shoot the crap, and help each other out with our common love-our cars. I'm somewhat experienced in building carbureted Chevrolet engines as I have built four of them. I've rebuilt TurboHydra350's and a 12-bolt rear. This Ford stuff is new and quite foreign to me. Even though someone might ask a silly question, I've actually learned from reading more experienced Stanger's responses. Those that have been there/done that are to be thanked for sharing their knowledge and experience with those that are still trying to figure this stuff out. I'm thankful I don't drive a mini-van, where would I go for help???lol

OK, another response.
I've learned a lot from the "Dumb" questions by reading some of the responses to them. I've also asked a few myself, because I am one of those that wasn't raised with a wrench in my hand.
I will say this, I've mostly used this for information by reading posts and doing searches (As you can tell by my registered date and number of posts). The search option is great! Some of the "Dumb" questions I had were asked already when I've done a search. So "Thanks" to those that have already asked those "Dumb" questions in the past.
