Who'da thunk it?
Did you know that an air filter on a carbed 5.0 can burn for over five minutes? It can, or at least mine did today. The car just stalled at a stop sign and *poof*! Backfire right through the carb. Even more amazing is the fact that a Mustang will start right up after you spray the carb full of that crap which fills a fire extinguisher. Who'da thunk it?
As a result I got to buy a shiney new vacumn gauge and a pretty chrome air cleaner complete with K&N.

I did get the tranny problems somewhat straightened out. I put an 8.8 rear in over the weekend and most of the noise disapeared. That funny noise I heard at the track was actually the rear. The synchros are bad in second gear and the clutch is slipping. I think the flywheel is glazed. I picked up a used flywheel today and I'll get it resurfaced later this week. Sometime within the next few weeks I'll get it in, along with a new disk. I'm also going to put my other tranny back in. All those noises I heard in it were actually in the rear end, so I have a good T-5 in the basement! I may actually get to make a pass or two at the track this summer.
