Finally...the car runs great, like it should
Well guys I have been fighting problems with my car and this new combo. I kept saying it needed the 4:30's that the cam calls for because it didn't have any low end. Plus it wanted tons of fuel 58psi and the plugs were still white, and it didn't rev to 6000 rpms very fast. Well to say the least this wasn't what I expected from my motor and all the money and work I have in it. Well Yesterday I took the top end apart, reset the valves going 1/2 turn, went through every thing plugs, wires, new cap, reset the Tps and relocated the PCV valve. I am now running 42 psi as well but it needs a little more fuel still. As all of you know the Holley intake has issues with pulling oil, well I took the PCV off of the main vacuum tree, ans moved it to the air tube ( On my C&L 76mm I used the Nitrous boss) and it seems to work great not pulling oil like it did since it only pulls a little vacuum when I am sitting at idle and the butter fly is cracked, at WOT the PCV doesn't pull vacuum so I think I solved it.
Well what a difference all these changes made it runs like a Raped Ape I can light the tires up in 4th gear by just smacking the pedal. I took my friend out who has a 400RWHP blown stang and he was scared and impressed, to say the least. He says he can't believe how strong it feels, and it revs to the moon in a instant. Says it definitly feels like it has more power then his car, man that would be awesome. Well all I can say is the biggest change I made to the motor was this Anderson Cam, Rick sure knew what he was talking about because this thing works miracles over my last cam. I am going to hold off on putting the 4:30's in the cam calls for, I can't imagine having more gear as strong and hard this pulls right now with no traction on my 10.5" D.O.T's. Track results and dyno numbers coming soon! Well I am just smiling ear to ear and had to share ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! |

Dustin- funny you mention a blower, I have a friend that has a Drivers side mount Novi 2000 kit for sale at a really good price. But before I add anymore power I need to see if I can get this to hook first. Now I realize I have 28psi in my D.O.T's for the street but from a 3rd gear roll I can smoke the tires, hell it even breaks them loose in 4th. If I can get off early Friday I am going to go to the track for a Street night to see what she's got, dyno numbers won't be to far behind. Hows your car running now, got the bugs worked out?
Demon- I have Lakewood 70/30's, 50/50's, Eibach drag kit, no front sway, SSM lowers, soild uppers, sub frames, 8pt cage, fully welded torque boxes. I am so impressed at how hard it pulls, can't believe what a cam change can do. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! |

Good job Rick. Sounds like you have one wicked @$$ carr if it'll break em loose in 4th
I got a few of the bugs worked out of mine but not completely yet. I rotated the C&L a little and it seemed to help. I'm going to rotate it some more and install my new O2 sensors tuesday and see what that does. ------------------ Too much to list. Damn rick, that sounds awesome. Sounds like I need to do some similar stuff. I'm really anxious to hear what it runs at the track with some slicks on it. For now I'll have to keep up with N20. Untill I can afford N/A build up.

Sky- I was very surprised at how hard it runs, I was expecting some major power but not like this. After taking my friends out I was really feeling good since some of those guys have blowers, it pulls like a blower car and doesn't stop. If I roll onto the throttle I can get to my 6200 rpm shift point, but if I smash it in any gear it smokes the tires (26" x 10.5" M&H RACEMASTERS) I have never ran the car on slicks, but I have a set of 28" x 10.5" ET DRAGS sitting in my basement ready. If I get to the track Friday I am going to try the D.O.T's, I would like to be able to stay in the street classes here in my area, so no slicks allowed. I do think I am going to need a true slick to hook. I was really hot and ready to find a away to get the NOVI from my friend but I can't imagine having any more power right now, I may take out my King Cobra clutch disc/Centerforce DF pressure plate and go to one of the racing clutches RAM makes to make sure it holds. I am so happy and impressed at the motor, the only real changes power wise I made was: Holley 51027 to Anderson N-61Cam, went from 75mm Pro-M to 76mm C&L, new good nono leaking Holley heads, port matched and cleaned up (polished exhaust/chambers) by me, and MSD ignition. Other then that it's the same motor that went 12.6 on no traction but it feels like it has twice the motor now.

Funny you ask how my car is runnin. I blew out my Stock T-5, then had a World Class Z spec custom built. Made about 5 dyno runs, made a best pull of 428 rwhp, and I think it still had more. It started getting hot, so I drove her home. I blew that tranny out on the highway about 5 miles from my house. So now I have a Tremec on it's way. When it rains, it pours.

ive got to stop and get some feeler guages onmy way home to try to get this idle tuned in once and for all! lowes didnt have them for crying out loud. they never have what i need.
and to think,,,,, i spent 3 days debating between the steeda and the anderson cams. if anderson would just give the specs on them damn things i probably would of went that way. i guess the cheaper price was calling my name as well! aahhh, someday i will learn! Not getting all the specs really bugged me too but I talked with a guy that had the generation before the N-61 which was the N-66. I used the specs he gave me along with real numbers and went from there...like I said I put a lot of faith in Rick

Dustin- That makes sense, I could have gotten a A-trim that was almost new from a friend but I would have to spin the hell out of it to see any kind of boost on my motor with the Holley upper and heads. Does Powerdyne have a upgrade program, like Vortech? The new gear driven blower looks nice although it doesn't compare to a T-trim or Novi, it seems really nice and will make 13-16 pis I believe.

Rick
Yeah Powerdyne does have the upgradable pully kits, but from the stories I have heard, I am staying away from upgrades until I see how they hold up. The BD-11A's are "supposed" to hold up to 14 psi, but like I said, I'd have to see ow they hold up before I chance it. ASP also has a crank pully that is supposed to add like 2 psi without overspinning the blower for about $85. I guess we'll see. ------------------ Dustin 89 GT(Saleen Clone) 392 rwhp UNTUNED(TFS Intake, spacer,Heads and #2 cam, BD-11A 9#(only boosting 6???WTF),1.6 rr's,BBK 70mm TB,FMS 70mm MAF,MSD 6BTM,FMS 9mm wires,BBK longtubes and H-Pipe,American Thunder cat back,3.55 lots more... 12.564@118.49 on street tires is my best so far.
