Default '85 clutch swap problems, cable too long

I have a 1985 Mustang 5.0 GT. I replaced the stock 10 inch clutch and flywheel with a 1986 10.5 inch clutch and throw-out bearing. Now my clutch cable is too long and I cannot get the clutch to release correctly. The pedal pressure is also a lot higher. Do I need a different TO bearing? I replaced the clutch cable with an adjustable one, but the problem remains.
