				 | I'd get some 3.73 gears (check out some articles and install them yourself, I'm sure if you run into any problems someone on this site will know what to do), get a porting kit and port the heads/intake myself, maybe some 1.7 rockers. Do you have headers/mufflers or is everything stock?

				 | Yeah I would go with the gears, and maybe an off-road h-pipe. Also porting the exhaust ports on the heads is supposed to give a noticeable gain. Ive never done it personally, but the thermactor bumps in the ports are quite large and look very restrictive.

				 | Gears are a must. A shifter if it's a 5-speed. You could do some porting work yourself, get a set of underdrive pulleys, and run a short belt.

				 | i did underdrive pulleys , equal length headers , 3.55 gears , and dropped about 80 lbs. off of the weight of my 90 mustang notchback and I went from a 14.2 to a 13.6 in the 1/4 mile with street tires . These mods are all fairly inexpensive. Check out this site , they gat pretty cheap prices on mustang parts. www.neweraperformanceparts.com |

				 | If you don't have someone who's done a gear swap before to help you then don't risk it, get a shop to do it. It is not for the faint of heart. I think a set of longtubes and matching X or H pipe and gears would be good but would probably go over $500. Watch your local Buy &Sell, sometimes guys are looking to upgrade and will sell off some good stuff for cheap.
