Default lentech automatics

I have an 88GT with 550 crank horsepower. I bought a lentech street terminator plus about 4 months ago and now I'm sending it back for a new one. I started to pass a car at about 50 when all of a sudden the engine revved wildly. After that I limped home barely able to make the car move. The tranny is rated to 700 horsepower. I have long tubbe headers that make contact with the pan and wondered if the heat may have broken down the fluid. There is another weird occurence I have experienced with the former aod also. When I slow down for a light at about 20 I get a forcefull drop in speed which seems to come from the rear end. I have a true trak diff with 4.10 gears and the mechanic that reinstalled the moser axles had to grind them down because the diff made them too long. He did have a tough time fitting the right side axle in and I wonder if that could be causing the bind that I get when slowing down. Also this sudden drop in speed may affect the tranny indirectly.

Please help me out with ideas for a fix.
Thanks

I just stopped in to read your post because I've considered going to one of their transmissions, so I usually read most posts when they are included. I have a question for you?

How do you know you make that much horsepower? I don't think 24 lbs injectors can make that much hp, which you have listed in your sig. No flames, just wondering.

Sorry I couldn't help out with your problems, but good luck.

NO WAY Will it every make 550HP NEVER!!!! the PSI would need to be 156PSI going to the Injectors and MAX is about 80PSI AND I dont think the Injectord will do that. What times does it Run.... I think you might need new Ijectors I am trying to help.

or is that with the 150 shot 400Hp is good with 24's is the kit a dry one?

I'll have to agree that the HP estimates are over-optimistic on 24#, even with the 150 shot of giggle gas. If I'm reading your sig correctly, you've just got the Lentech VB and not the complete trans? Your hard hit at 20mph sounds like a problem with the governed downshift to low after engine braking in 2nd. Be sure and explain all symptoms to Len/Ross/Chris at Lentech when you give them a call. They may be able to diagnose a line pressure problem (or something else). It could be a problem with too much/little clearance in the clutch packs as well. Like I said, give them as much description on the problem as possible and they should be able to diagnose it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if it is someone else's trans (or stock) with a Lentech VB, the problems may not be related to the VB at all.

As far as the axles go, there should be some clearance between the axle end and the cross-shaft. If I remember correctly, the factory spec is something like 0.030". It could be bound up (especially when things expand when hot) if he had to force the axles/cross-shaft into place when assembling the rear. Doesn't sound real kosher to me.

I dont think an axle bind would occur at only one particular speed and situation (slowing down). I would look elsewhere for your troubles. You sure it not just the AOD downshifting like it does normally when slowing down?

Now I am not a AOD expert, well not yet , but I would say it sounds like your Lentech is just downshifting. The line pressure is greatly increased and with that valve body it will downshift with more authority.

As Jeff said, give Lentech a call to make sure.
