![]() Hello All,
So who has one? Do you like it? My main concern is this, I do not want to chrip the tires if I am just going to school and work. I do not need that. When I need the extra kick that would be fine. Does the Lentech drive nice around town? And for the shifter. If I just put it in D will it drive normally? IE 1-2-D. And when I hit the track I can do 1-2-3 all manually? If I want to manually downshift, I hope to get a B&M Hammer, will that hurt the tranny? Thanks for any help Ian

![]() I've actually got a Strip Terminator VB in my Lentech trans, but you'll like any of their products...good quality, performance and service.
The Street Terminator will give you the 'put it in D and go' ability, retaining the TV cable operation for everyday 'round town driving. But you'll also be able to manually shift it in a 1,2,3/4 pattern when racing. The 3/4 comes from the manual shift into 3rd (Drive) and manual shift into O/D by flipping a switch. This is the O/D Electronic Delete....it'll only bring in O/D when you want it to. You'll mount a toggle switch somewhere on your console/dash that activates or de-activates O/D. You'll have good, firm shifts with the Street Terminator, but they won't be neck-snapping like you're worried about....unless of course you have a really high stall in the car. This VB will really extend the life of your AOD. The Lentech is totally re-engineered to greatly strengthen the weaknesses of the original OEM design.

![]() You'll have engine braking in manual 2nd. You'll still be govenored so you won't be able to downshift into first until the governor allows it (~ 15mph?).

![]() Hey Jeff, what would be the lifespan of an aod with that valve body and like a 3500 stall coverter behind say a 400-450hp motor, just the stock aod? Would it last long enough until I have the money to buy a built aod , say 4-6 months. Thanks, John

![]() I have nothing more than a STOCK rebuilt AOD, with a LenTech Street Terminator "Lock-Up" valve body, a PI Stallion 3800 stall lock-up converter, and a decent tranny cooler. It's been in my car for three years now, first running low 12's, then mid 11's, and presently low 10's! It has been "footbraked" to a 1.51 60 foot, and can still cruise along at 70mph at only 2000 rpm's....

![]() Rel3rd's story says it all. Everyone's results will vary, but the Lentech VB really makes the stock AOD alot stronger and more durable. I ran more than 100 passes on my Lentech AOD this season with a 5400 stall, leaving off the transbrake, and the trans is as smooth as the day we installed it. The fluid in the pan looked like new when we pulled the trans last month. We're making about 324rwhp so figure about 385hp or so at the crank...give or take a few. Tim Forbes ran a Lentech behind his Street Outlaw motor all last season, probably making around 1000hp and they tell me it didn't even need rebuilding at the end of the season. For a street car, the best thing you can do to extend the life of the trans is to install a good cooler like the B&M Supercooler. I also installed a remote filter unit just to give my investment a little added protection.
88cobra, the breather won't fit your stock covers. Sorry. Manual downshifting won't hurt the trans if you're not barbaric about it. Your trans will still be govenored so you won't have to worry about it much anyways.

![]() B&M makes a remote trans filter kit that uses a FL-1A (or FL-1HP) filter just like your engine. The kit only costs about $25. Plumb it between the trans and cooler. Line out of converter into the filter. Filter out to cooler. Cooler out back to trans. Best thing about it is that if your converter ever fails, the filter will trap all the mess before it can make it back to your trans to ruin the trans.
