Angry New track times II

Well we went to the track tonight and the results sucked.

We can not get the car to run better than a 12.6 @108

We pulled a 1.8 60ft on every run.

The first run we managed a 12.6 @108 w/7 lbs of fuel pressure and 32 degrees timing.

The second run we advanced the timing to 38 degrees and ran a 12.6 @108.

The third run we advanced the timing to 42 degrees just to see if it would slow it down and it ran a 12.6 @108.

The fourth run we retarded the timing to 28 degrees and ran a 12.6 @108

The fifth run we backed the fuel pressure down to 3 degrees just to see if it would slow the car down and it ran a 12.6 @108.
The sixth run we put the fuel pressure at 6 lbs and went back to 32 degrees and ran a you guessed it, a 12.6 @ 109.

Ok I am confused, why would no mater what we did to the car, it would run the same time with bracket like consistency?

I need help as I am getting frustrated!

That is the same thing tony said. (tony is the guy that is helping me with the car.)

He seems to think it is fuel related (Not getting enough fuel).

I'm no pro but I think your engine combo looks good. A 750 should be enough for a 347. Are you loosing traction on the line or is it hooking good? What rpm are you at when you cross the finish? With a c4 I would think that 3.73s would be a better choice then your 3.55's maybe even 4.10's would be better.

I was just thinking about this some more and your 1.8 60 ft times are killing you. You should be able to get them down to a low 1.5 with the the type of power you are making. That alone is .3 not to mention what you will make up down the track.

I agree. You should be looking into your 60' times. At least 1.60. I know a guy at LACR that pulls 1.6's with an AOD with 3500 converter, control arms, frame connectors and 4:10 gears. He traps at about 102mph at 3000ft, so you guys are probably making the same kind of power.

No I am not having a traction problem and that would not explain why it will run the same et no mater what we do to the car.

I should slow down or speed up a little when we go from 28 degrees to 42 but it did not.

3.55 is all I will be able to run because when I get it running right I will be running nitrous and I already cross the finish line at almost 5500 rpm's and I would run out of gear with the nitrous and C-4.

it could be fuel related because with a 347 you should be getting more mph in the 1/4. maybe you are losing pressure on the big end of the track. i am confused about the timing thing also. that much of a differance in timing should make a big differance in the ET. what did tony have to say about it. i know that tony knows what he is doing.

And more to come.

I thought you said you were getting rid of the C4! Either way, you need lower gears. The timing and fuel pressure changes not having an effect confirms this for me. You are not reaching your engines potential. 3.55's are just plain no good for a built engine/auto trans combo.

Take care

Tony thinks it is fuel related.

The deal with me going back to a t-5 fell through, the wife wants to wait until we get a few more bills paid off so I will have to wait on that for a while.
