Unhappy Wiring ???'s for AOD to T-5 swap

Is there any way to wire it up so that I can start it? The car has 4 wires coming out and the harness on the tranny has 2 wires and one jumper wire. When I jump the wires coming from the car, the car starts while the key is on (rather than in the start position) and the starter stays on. I have to pull the jumper wire to stop the starter. I looked at the manual but it's not helping at all, it only shows 2 wires coming from the car. Can anyone tell me how to wire this thing up? Do I need to hook up the switches on the pedals? Other than this problem, the T-5 swap went well. I can't wait to drive this thing!! Just pulling it out of the garage was fun! Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are two wires you will have to splice together coming out of the plug on the car. I recommend just cutting the plug off of the harness coming. I cant remember which two wires you ahve to splice. I will look this af my bros car this after noon and let ya know.

Hope I can help.

I bought a wire from ford that plugs into the car harness and goes to the tranny one, and yes, I had to hook up the nuetral safety switch on the pedal to get mine to work. Good luck, it didn't cost but about $25.

You can splice the two wires and not have to hook up that switch under the dash but it will start in gear then. You do what you want. For $25 bucks I can remember to push the clutch everytime. I'l llet you know this afternoon.

He is right, there is always a way to rig stuff, especially on these stangs, I just wanted it done right the first time so I knew I wouldn't have any probs later. It is also less touble shooting on your part when something goes wrong. good luck to you either way.

I tried to jump the 2 wires I think you are talking about, but when I turned the key to the on position the starter would come on and not turn off until I pulled the jumper wire (paper clip) out. I don't really have a problem springing for the harness but I am in Italy and it would take at least 2 weeks to get here. Thanks for your help.

Does my starter staying on have anything to do with this?

Through that paper clip away and then try to jump the starter. IF the paper clip is opening a circuit that shouldnt be opened it wont start.

your starter staying on has nothing to do with that, as you were suspecting. There should be 4 wires on your AOD wiring harness.

2 of them are for neutral start switch, the other 2 are for the back up lights. Splice the two for the start switch together, and your car should start normally (in any gear now of course).

if you need the wire colors, e-mail me and Ill get them to you.
