How do I replace my speedo cable

I want to replace my cable because it's been severly burned by my header. I have 3.73 gears and I thought there was a gear I had to install into the speedo that allows the speedo to compensate for the gears. I know about the gear that goes in the tranny, but I thought there was another one. Also, what exactly do I have to do to pull my old cable out of the dash board and to install the new one. Thanks, Keith.

The only gear you will need if yours is bad or chewed up is the one for the end of the cable that goes into the tranny, the other gear you are talking about doesn't need to be changed and that is in the tailshaft or the tranny and requires the tranny to be torn apart, atleast that section.

The cable comes off the back of the speedo by psuhing the tabs in and pushing the cable towards the speedo, it will then release and you can pull it out. You have to clips that the cable rides in on it's way back to the tranny, very easy to do.
