Question Should I take off my tail pipes and put turndown?

I test drove a 92 gt with headers, off road h pipe and mac pro dumps. I was wondering if i put turndowns on my 40s with delta flow if it would sound the same or close. This car sounded AWESOME. When it was idling it sounded like a bass drum and when I excellerated I scared the car next to me. It also had alot more down low than my 89, so if I did the turndowns would I lose even more back pressure?
