Default 60' times & diffs

Here's a pic of my latest, bestest 60' time. A 1.49 on a STOCK explorer 31 spline diff.

I'm guessing that the Sploder diff isn't gonna do this too many more times. So I got to wondering, what are everyone's best 60' times, and more importantly what kinda diff are you all running? I'm thinking spool, even though it'll have bad street manners. Anyone running an Auburn? Detroit? Eaton?

Let's hear the skinny guys...........

I am pulling 1.64 60fts on the stock rear end with 03' cobra carbon fiber clutches, 3.73 gears and 26X8 Hoosiers.

31 spline diff- I know guys in the 1.3's with the Truck/explorer 31 spline diff.

What axles are you running?

Looking at the pic it looks like you could benefit from an air bag in the passenger side rear spring.

Put the air bag in 3 days ago! hehehehe. Anti-roll bar is in the near future as well. Running 31 spline (obviously) Strange axles with c-clip eliminators.

That is a good set-up. Wish I had it. ........The locker is the best traction available though and should help. I dont upgrade until I break $hit, but thats just me.

I recently installed an airbag to. Get to test it out this weekend. I also put a torque strap on the motor.

Maybe I will finaly lift a wheel.

You should have come by the shop on Saturday Jester. After Smackdown was rained out we had a few cars stop by for dyno pulls. We had a casual day, just strapping cars down and doing some tuning.

I had to leave Friday night, had to be at the Fire Station bright and early Sat. morning. I ALMOST ran up there Friday afternoon, we got rained out around 2:30/3:00

Mr. South, sounds like you need new clutches/sliders in your diff. Rebuild kits are available at Summit, Jeg's, ebay, etc etc.

I highly reccomend the carbon fiber clutches/sliders off of Ebay for 80 bux. They come stock in 03-04 cobras and they really put the power to both wheels.

Are stock axles 31 spline, or 28?
I guess your able to use the 31's because the exp. diff. is 31 spline?
Will the cobra carbon fiber clutches fit in my '88 stock diff?
Are the 31 spline axles that much stronger than the 28's?

In order Ski:
stock are 28
Yep, truck/sploder diffs are 31 spline.
Yep! Cobra clutches/sliders are same size/shape just carbon fiber
Oh yeah!!! Once you see a 31 spline up close and in person, you won't believe the difference.

I cut 1.46 with my 31spline spool (which is fine on the street by the way)

You don't have any problems with the spool on the street? I was told they even suk in the pits, let alone the street. I still think that's the way I'm gonna go. Killer 60' by the way.....!

The only part that kinda sucks is in real tight turning, especially while backing up. As long as you have somewhat of a soft tire on it (i use the MT et street radials) it is fine. I will never go back to any sort of differential.

I can get a KILLER deal on a Strange spool, so I was already leaning that way. About HALF the price of an Auburn or Eaton.

Running Mickey ET Streets, so I guess we're gonna find out!

Who did your TKO for you, or haven't you bought one yet?

My best was a 1.54. While yall are all smiling about this (yall 60fts) Roll up under the old stangs in each of your driveways and inspect the tourqe boxes. Upper and lower, and check them regularly. And Hey to all, it's been a while.

I checked mine out pretty good the other day on the lift, and to my surprise, torque boxes are FINE!! I was shocked. Only problem I saw was the thing squats so hard that the body is coming down onto my driveshaft. Evidently pinion snubber isn't where it needs to be. That and the darn bolt heads for the driveshaft loop just about have my driveshaft cut through. Got some work to do there.
