New Best Times!!!
Well I ran down at US41 in Indiana on Saturday in the cold cloudy weather and got my best times yet. I was grinding in every gear, I think the clutch was never fully disengaging. I think the clutch might be toast, it's not engaging until the pedal is right at the top during normal driving and, like I said, was grinding bad every shift down the 1/4. Gonna pull the inspection cover and take a look where the fork is and probably pull the trans and bellhousing to look at the cluch and the clutch fork to see for sure this week. Anyway I ran 5 times before i gave it up as a lost cause and got my best run on D/R's the first trip down the track and my best run on the slicks the last trip.
Here's my best two: with drag radials: r/t .775 (blech) 60' 2.062 330' 5.600 1/8 8.514 @ 85.87mph 1000' 11.012 1/4 13.117 @ 107.42mph with slicks: r/t .502 (whoop) 60' 1.783 330' 5.335 1/8 8.269 @ 85.44mph 1000' 10.823 1/4 12.94 @ 107.17 I'm pretty happy overall and I think I've got a bit left with a good clutch and better shifting. |

Yeah I was there during the rental. I'm sure I saw your car at some point but i was hanging with a bunch of the guys from my club. That "dumbass lady" is a freind of mines girlfriend, from what I understand something locked up in the trans and locked up the rear wheels just past the traps. I didn't see it happen but I saw the results, I'm just glad everyone was ok.
Hey Tony, check out a local club I found www.midwestfords.org we're putting together track rentals and other stuff all the time. We also piggyback onto other peoples rentals like we did last Sat. with the indiana stangers. |

Sorry, didn't know that you knew her
I overheard a few people saying that she put it in reverse or it slipped into it somehow. I was in the main building with your friend (the woman's boyfriend) when it happened, he was video taping it and at first it didnt even seem like he realized what happened. Then when it sunk in he ran out the door. Any word on if the car is totaled or not? the frame looked pretty bent

You should adjust the clutch cable. You can even do it with the stock plastic quadrant.
Nice runs too. With an aggressive launch and some powershifting you could be in the 12.20-12.30's. |

Thanks exgmguy, I've got a firewall adjuster and Steeda quadrant and it's already adjusted all the way in, I think the clutch is worn out. I'll find out when I tear it down to take a look. I don't know how fast i can get it but the goal is a 12.3 by the end of the season, another guy in my club says i can't do what he did last year so i have to prove him wrong.
fiveohpatrol, I'm not sure exactly what happened with the reverse thing either. I guess it had happened once before, so I don't know if there was a problem with the trans popping out of gear or what. I think it was totaled but last i heard she wanted to rebuild it. I'd get a roller personally and just swap the drivetrain over, but she loved that car and didn't want another, I guess. |
