Default BBKceramic vs nickel coatins worth it?

I know for looks you can't beat the ceramic coated ones.

These are going in my daily driver, my stock headers have warped flanges with stripped out threads, the H pipe has no flanges left and we used a pair of "handcuffs" and some crappy bolts, I'ts held ok for 30,000 miles but not too much more.

I figure get the 1 5/8" longtubes since the whole mess has to go, I already have a Mac 2.5" cat back

I'm gonna be driving in the winter in the Northeast so figure plenty of salt spray. I don't care if they get discolored, but dont want them to rot out from the inside, that would bite.

Any tales from the street about the Nickel coatings???

I have a set of full length 1 3/4 BBK ceramics and they are starting to show rust from top to bottom. There about 8 months old on my daily summer driver. I'm pleased with everything else but the coating. Don't know anything about the nickel-Mike

I've had some concerns about mass produced coated headers. For the price of the coated BBK's I have considered getting uncoated ones and having a local shop do the coating so I know it was done right.

I've had uncoated headers on my Chevy last for about 4 years before starting to leak. What worries me about coated headers is they can rust out underneath the coating even quicker than uncoated ones, since water can get trapped inside.

Some food for thought eh?
