SCAT or DES Crankshaft?
should I go with a SCAT or DES forged stroker crank for a 347. Also how good is a Scat9000 Cast stroker crank ($235.)
I am thinking about building a 347 instead of the 393.

Both the Scat and the DES are good cranks as long as they are used to there intended purposebe realistic on how much power you want ot make total ie"if you are spraying a 200 shot and have 400 HP before the bottle then neither DES Nodular or Scat 9000 are going to hold. The DES nodular is realisticly good to about 500 and the Scat 9000 is good to about 600. I have heard of people making more with those cranks but my expierence has been that is roughly there safe limit also do scrimp on rods or rod bolts the DES rods are good rods but if you get them look closely and see if the rod bolts say ARP on them or ARP 8740 if they are justt stamoed ARP replace them and get the 8740's.
I have seen more strokers fail due to poor rods/ rod bolts than any other reason.

Scat is the company that I'm going with for my rotating assembly. Their crankshafts are better balanced than most manufactuers. Haven't heard much about DES. ~Brian

I have a SCAT crank and my engine builder was very happy. Only a few passes on it in case you were wondering.
