Camshaft question.... Please Help!
I just bought a F-303 cam and i know people say the e-303 cam would be better suited for my car, but in a month or so i will be getting a new intake and a little later i will be buying new heads.... so now here is the question, should i buy the shim kit for the valves to take the lift down from the cam until i get the heads and intake? or should the setup work fine? I hope i went the right route with buying this cam because people said that the cam was a good cam for my setup with future plans in mine and the vac. is good.... plus i have the high compression and i thought that lift should suit the car..... I hope i went the right route!
So again should i get the shims or stay with the cam how it is? THANKS!!

I don't know what shims you are talking about. The only way to reduce the lift of a cam would be to get different rocker arms.

I'm assuming you mean to shim the springs to get the seat pressure up for the cam. Well its only got .512" lift with a 1.6 rocker.
I ran it N/A with about 9.5:1 compression on out of the box Edelbrocks, Performer intake, 24lbes, etc. Had lots of mid and top end, driveability wasn't too bad, under 2,000 it bucked a little bit but that was the state of tune. I sold it to a friend for his stock 5.0 with 351 DOOE heads, and Cobra intake. So far that setup works almost as good as mine. And he doesn't have the driveability issues I had since he set the car up right away.

more questions... sorry!
OK thanks.. i am not going to get the shims my springs are pretty hard they have -Specifications:
* Outside diameter: 1.437 in. with damper * Inside diameter: 1.039 in. * Seat pressure: 115 lbs. at 1.700 in. * Open pressure: 284 lbs. at 1.200 in. * Coil bind: 1.125 in. * Rate: 339 and with that i have the titanium locks and good steel retainers.... should this work good? another question i had is there was a whole list of mustang parts and specs for every year and they say in 89' they had the 1.7 stamped rockers... is there any truth to this? -thanks alot 86GT and Quantum, guys i need all the help i can get!
