Hey Sky, look at the gear spec's before you buy. I bought my "z" T-5 before I really looked at it and then heard that the gear ratios are differen't than the base T-5. I don't remember exactly what the problem was but I know, if I remember correctly, that Mr. 5 0 ended up deciding against going with it for that reason. Something about the first gear ratio being too tall I think. Looking back I would have gone with the upgrade to the Cobra Tremec or the TKO instead. There was about a $400 difference and I paid $1100 for my "Z" T-5 2 years ago. Just my .02
------------------ 91 LX 5.0 Z t-5, 3:73 gear, Vortech 73mm Mass Air, Accufab 65mm TB, BBK underdrives, Crane HI-6S Ignition, BBK unequal length headers, Bassani x pipe, 2.5" Dynomax Super Turbo cat back, Kenny Brown Super Subs, Factory Five Control Arms, Mac cold air kit and more to come! |

Hey Sky,
I have an NEW T-5(take-off from Saleen) sitting in my garage. It could be yours today if you want to drive to the Pasadena area. It's a '90 vintage, so it has good torque specs. I paid $863 with tax, but will accept $700 since it's sitting in my garage. And like I said, it's NEW. I'm selling it because I was planning on using it for my '65, but I went with a Toploader instead. Let me know Russ ------------------ '91 LX Procharger, 3 row intercooler, extrude honed Cobra intake, Mac full Length Headers, 30# inj., 73mm C&L, 75mm tb, E303 cam, 289 rods, ported E7 heads, MSD, T-Rex w/255 lph Walbro, 5 lug conversion, Cobra R wheels, 3.27 gears and Moser Axles. |

Actually the "Z" spec can be ordered with different 1st gear ratios.
The standard older 1st gear ratio is 3.35:1. The "Z" spec in D&D's ads for $1000 has a 2.95:1 ratio. It does make first gear taller, but with a 3.35:1 a Z spec is rated at 305 lb/ft instead of the 330. It does make a difference out of the hole, but I would think Mr 5.0 would have wanted it that way for a more usable 1st gear with his 3.55's. I'd like the Z much more than the standard tranny if I had 3.73's or higher. Anyway, I had my Z spec shipped to my door from D&D performance in 2 days for $1100. Install went great, it shifts awesome, and I've got no complaints over the 10,000 miles I've had it. |
