Post shifter????

Hey guys! I was looking into buying a short throw shifter for my 88lx. Wondering what would be the best one to go with. Also i was looking around the shifter to see how big of a job it would be to get it out and it looks pretty hard. IS IT? How do you go about getting to those bolts that are closest to the motor? ALOS i have a vibration around 75mph under that it drives fine. over that still there but not as bad. What do you think? the rotors are bad i know that, and also it needs a new clutch. Do you think that might have something to do with it?
thanks alot

I think the Pro50 is the best one. The install is easy if you have universal sockets.

yeah, i say the pro5.0 also. my bud threw one on his t-5 and the difference is amazing. before i switched to the tremec, i had a hurst on my t5 and the pro50 is a much better unit. install is fairly simple, but it might take some grinding to get the front bolts, you should be cool though. as far as the vibration, id say its the alignment, but if you know the rotors are bad, i would turn them first(or get new ones) and see if that helps. hope this helps you out, nick

I just put a Tri-Ax on my Tremec about a month ago. Hated it the first few days because it was real notchy and annoying. Now that its broken in, I love it. Shifts are a lot smoother than they were with the stock shifter, and its a lot stronger piece. Defiantely recommend one. I got my Tri-Ax for $179 for a Tremec. Also, the installation wasn't bad, instead of fighting to get to the bolts, I just took out the center console. If you have any questions, just email me.

Go with the Tri-ax. That is what i have also, and it is unbelievable. The stock shifter is junk. And taking out the console is a little time consuming, but well worth the effort. Light Em Up!!

I have driven (T5)stangs with pro5.0, b+m, and stock shifters. I liked the pro5.0, but I don't think the stock one is bad either.

They are all, way better than stock.
The 2 bolts closest to the front of the car you need a small wrench.
Not hard, kind of time consuming but only about 45 minutes tops to swap out.

I got the Pro 5.0 and I'm happy with it. Install was not bad, really straight forward, nothing too complicated. It was one of the first mods I did to my car, to any car for that matter, and it's not a problem. As long as you have some ability with tools and patience it shouldn't be a problem. 5.0 magazine has done a couple articles on installing shifters, so take a look at those if you get a chance. I don't know the dates off hand, but I might be able to find them if you need it. Good luck.
