Post nitrous question, please help!

this guy is making me a killer deal on the nos kit #5122. this system is made for integra's and honda's and lots of other stuff. i have a 5.0 HO '89 mustang. will this work on it or do i have to have kit # 5115 which is made especially for a 5.0?? or, can it be modified to work?? i think it may.. i think i could just tap into the intake before the tb but i'm not much of a nitrous freak. please reply asap... thank you

You should be able to make it work but make sure you have the correct jets for the power level you want.
I am not sure if the regulator has a different spring pressure but I would think it would be close enough to run a small shot like 50 to 75.

How much were you planning on adding?

On the kit I bought it comes with a throttle position switch. The bracket that holds this switch to the trottle body is unique to the 5.0 engine. I'm planning on using a button instead of th switch and if you go the button route I can't think of anything else that wouldn't work.

thanks for the info guys. i talked to him just now and he says it comes complete with the following setups: 70, 85, and 100 hp shots. i do plan on running a pushbutton.. and i'll probably start w/the 70 shot, then maybe move up to the 85. does anyone else have any thoughts??

thanks again, josh

If I am not mistaken the bracket is the same in the 5122 as it is in the 5115 and if not you can buy it for a few dollars.

If you plan on going the push button route I would still suggest the throttle switch and wire the push button in with it so that you have to be at full throttle and have the button pushed.

Also I would bet that the jets are different sizes for the 70 shot that he has vs. what you need for a 70 shot. You need to figure out what jets you need for a 75 shot with the mustang and make sure they are not different.

Anyone with a 5115 kit should be able to tell you but I cannot remember right now.

I've also heard it is a good idea to gap your plugs to .35 so that the nos don't blow your spark out.

That is true and you will also want to step down to a colder plug.

Also platinum plugs are a big no no!

One thing you need to know. How does this kit supply the extra fuel? Some dry kits apply actual nitrous pressure to the fuel pressure regulator, effectively dead-heading the return line and causing line pressure to spike at the injectors, thus giving you more fuel.
Other kits spray nitrous before the mass air sensor which "freezes" the sensor. The computer is then tricked into adding extra fuel.

The jets for a 75 shot/5115 kit for a 5.0l are 42 nitrous, and a 59 in the bypass. A 150 shot is a 67 nitrous, 42 bypass.
