Default Timing

Ok, I read the great disertations as of 12/8 on timing. Really it was very helpful to me. Now, should I run my vacuum line from the distributor above the plates on into the base on my holley? It appears I should run it above to bring in the vac on a timed basis. Is there a situation where I would want to run it in the base?
Thanks,

If you run it below there will be allot of vacuum at idle keeping your timing advanced at idle, and when you are at WOT there is less vacuum and it may even pull timing. So yes run it above.

Run the vacuum line from the distributor to the vacuum port on the passenger side of the primary metering block (just behind the site plug in the primary bowl). There is never a time when you will want the vacuum advance connected to manifold vacuum (vacuum ports on the intake manifold and the carburetor throttle plate are manifold vacuum).

Take care,
