GGGGrrrrr I am so mad!!!!

OK I had just joined a mustang car club in St. Louis, MO. And they were having a contest for a design logo for the club to put on merchandise. Well I had drawn up a few things and submitted them. I didnt win. It was only me and some other guy and all he did was take the picture on the forum they have online and cenrtered the horse. That was all. Anyone couldve done that BUT I was ALL ORIGINAL!!!!!
Maybe I am taking this a little too personal but I was pretty pissed. Oh well I will make OWN CLUB LOL

Heres what the logo on the site looks like:

MY IDEAS

Oh well at least I know that I shouldve won

I liked your ideas, they were good. But one thing to consider when looking for Logos is production. There going to be marketed as said, and production costs count.

Your ideas were great, but would be harder and more expensive to produce. The fewer colors used, the better(Production costs jump up considerably with every color added to production.), the less intricate detail, the better (Because intricate details dont reproduce well, especially when sized down. It becomes hard to see, and jumbled looking.)

Plus, simple, clean designs just stick to memory better. Look at Nike, Pepsi, Steeda, Chevorlet, and Ford.

While he looses out big time in orginality, he shows an obvouis lack of imagination and total lack of creativity, he wins in simplicity. You win out big in orginality, your ideas were clean and fresh.

Dont become like me and get discouraged when one or two contests or showings dont go all that well, keep in it. Learn from mistakes, and learn what to expect. Best thing to do to give you and edge in a contest like that is, To know what the "Customer" wants.

I like your designs a lot more, but I'm gonna have to agree with Mercury.

BTW is that a 4 banger tryin to do a burn out.

1969Mach1 12-16-2001 10:39 AM

Also have to agree with Mercury. We learned alot about that in class and how you have to keep it simple because of production costs. If they were using your logo say for the site then I'm sure it would of won because online it doesn't make a difference but ink is money and the more you use the more money it's going to cost. But don't worry, in my eye you won. :D

i dig yours better. the arch with the the R was really cool. keep that design, it may come in use later on.

bri32z 12-16-2001 07:17 PM

all you had to do is put .com after stlmustangs and you would of won hands down:D

6T9PONY 12-16-2001 09:04 PM

Dang.....those are some good designs you had. I definitely like them a lot better than his. But all these guys are right. Simplicity pays off when it comes to production prices.

I see the brake light on that car doing the "burnout." So obviously it's being powerstalled. And there is just barely some tiresmoke. I bet you're right tireburner!! It probably is a 4-banger!!

OnMy3rdStang 12-16-2001 10:59 PM

Yes Yes it is a 4 popper. Me an my bf were just having some fun behind his old high school. That was dry pavement and the car is an auto and both tires were spinning. LOL Its nothing to write home about but we thought it was cool.
I suppose you guys are right about the contest. Oh well I guess the new logo is easier to remember thanks anyway

*haley*

6T9PONY 12-17-2001 12:55 AM

Cool....better luck next time with the contests!:)

Mustangbelle306 12-17-2001 05:09 AM

Actually, I think they would have been way better off going with her design rather than what they did. Saving the money on colors is of course a reasonable concern, but in the age of zillions of dot.coms and mustang groups its IMO more profitable overall to be noticed.

Loving art and all things artistic, I would most definetely notice that design in a crowd of silly running pony T shirts. I'm sorry you didn't win their contest; you certainly would have won mine, if I needed a logo. And trust me, I'm not free with the talent compliments. Your design was clever, simplistic yet extremely creative. Keep up the great work!

mustangman65_79 12-17-2001 05:27 AM

I liked your idea much better.

OnMy3rdStang 12-17-2001 05:40 AM

Thank-you everybody

mustangman65_79 12-17-2001 05:43 AM

Make sure u keep yours.

No, it's oil burning.

lol

I'm not sure, my 4-blurb did it better then that, and I had wider tires. My ranger did it better then my mustang with a 4-blurb, and it was a 4x4.

Rebel79 12-17-2001 10:18 AM

Ok let me give you some insite as to why I would not choose your logo. Just an FYI I have a printing background, and I too, have been in the same situation as you having my logo be not chosen. Your logo would be to complex to print. Its very difficult to print photos, epecially full color photos. That being said, the 'other' entery would be easier to produce.

Now I do agree with you, your design IS better, and his horse is NOT even centered. My *** could have done a better job. But sometimes you just can win. Good design and better luck next time.

OnMy3rdStang 12-18-2001 12:53 AM

Hey hey hey Dont be dissin my 4 banger!!!! That was only a 10-20 sec burnout!!! :p

6T9PONY 12-18-2001 01:02 AM

that much smoke for 10-20 seconds?

OnMy3rdStang 12-18-2001 04:33 AM

Well it is a 4 cylinder... it only puts out so much smoke... unlike a 302 or up it can only spin up those tires so fast brake torquring them. So yes that was about 10-20 seconds but it just stops getting heavier at a certain point. But I think it is time I go out and get a real burnout pic with the 4 cylinder with its wider tires on it. I only did that pic for a few reasons. Just screwing around because we were bored. Also a guy doubted a 4 cylinder auto mustang could. yes I know a V8 can do a much better one!

mustangman65_79 12-18-2001 08:15 AM

20 Secs!? I did a lot better then that. My 4-banger did better. What kind of tires are those? U want to see something funny, watch my '89 Bronco do a burn out with a stock 351 and 32x11.5R15's, and a 289 sitting in the back. It only does it good when it on moist ground though(power braking it).

OnMy3rdStang 12-18-2001 11:25 PM

IT IS NOT A V-8 YOURE NOT GOING TO GET V-8 RESULTS (SMOKE) FROM A FOUR BANGER!
It was cheapo tires
and I am sure your 4cylinder only smoked one tire. Mine was actually turning both tires...
And the pavement had not a single drop of water or oil when we smoked them. And what year and transmisson was your 4 cylinder?
It is not a 5.0 or V8 it is a lowend 2.3 auto. If you want smoke I will go smoke the newer 215's on it....

Stop trippin over it.

6T9PONY 12-18-2001 11:39 PM

Haha......I sense some tension here.....

Relax boys and girls......just because your lowly 4s are gutless, you don't gotta brag about some kind of burnout you get with it. Hehe....You all just wish you could have a motor like mine.....hehe.......:D ;)

J/k.....my motor only puts out about 300 ponies.....
