f150 crank pulley?

i've heard of some guys using a crank pulley from an f150 to get 8 psi out of there novi 1000. does anyone know what year the f150 is that there using the crank pulley from?

slider_buck 10-03-2002 02:21 AM

found out for myself. its a 95 f150 crank pulley and i'm getting 9 out of it instead of 8. mighty cheap horspower- $20

PKRWUD 10-03-2002 04:17 AM

95 f150 what? 302? 300? 351? 460?

You are going to install this on the Novi or on your crank? You have confused me. You are not the first, however.

:)

Take care,

a crank pulley, you install it on your crank. it is bigger in diameter than the factory crank pulley thus spinning everything on the belt quicker. it is off of a 1995 f150 with a 302 in it.

I understand the theory, you just made it sound like you were going to mount it to your Novi, and that confused me. Thanks for the clarification.

Does anybody know what the outside diameter of the truck pulley is? I am trying to find a larger crank pulley for my application...

I believe the F150 crank pulley is 6.5" if I remember correctly. If you need an exact size, you could always call up ASP. They will make whatever size pulley you want.

slider_buck Are you still running stock heads? What kind of boost were you seeing with the stock crank pulley? Are you running the fcu or not?

slider_buck 10-08-2002 06:56 PM

yes i have the stock heads on it, for now anyways. with the factory pulley i was seeing 5 psi, now with the f150 pulley i see 9 psi. big h.p. increase for $20 huh. i took the fmu off because it is a 14:1 and at 9 psi i was getting way too much fuel. i put a mallory regulator on it now. it is boost sensitive, like a 1:1 ratio. this helped out big time. i would like to get a different fmu around the 4:1 or 5:1 just to keep it alittle safe on top end. never know though i could be ok now with the way it is. going to go to the track this thursday night. my first run i'm going to pull a plug and see what it looks like, hopefully be ok the way it is right now and not have to go with anything else.

Stang_Crazy 10-08-2002 07:21 PM

9 psi with just the crank pulley is impressive!! When are ya gonna break the warranty seal and get a 2.75" blower pulley?? That would probably put you up around 12-13 psi. :D

Well, it looks like I need to invest in a F150 crank pulley VERY SOON.

slider_buck 10-08-2002 07:26 PM

i'm going to at least run it like this till next year sometime. only had the novi on for about 1 month now. going to make sure everything is ok with it and then put on a different pulley. yep just go to a junk yard and ask for a crank pulley from a 95 f150 302. for $20 you can't beat it.

slider_buck 10-08-2002 07:38 PM

does anyone know if i could modify the mallory regulator to make it respond more to boost? its a 1:1 now. i would like to try and make it a 1:2 if i could. anyone have any suggestions?

stangsrule 10-10-2002 03:30 AM

I don't mean to be a pain, but could one of you guys with the 95 F150 crank pulley measure the OD on it and let me know what it is? I want to see how much bigger (if any) it is over the one I have now... I would really appreciate it!!;) Thanks in advance!

Coupe Devil 10-10-2002 03:59 PM

Hey stangsrule... I have a crank pulley of of my 96 ( same as the 95 ) that I will sell you. I put underdrives on my truck so I dont need it anymore. $25 bucks including shipping takes it. Let me know if you want it.

If it is indeed bigger that what I have I might be interested, what I have now is like 6 3/16 inches OD... :)

Stang_Crazy 10-10-2002 06:46 PM

The 95 F150 Crank Pulley is 6 1/2" inches in diameter. Someone correct me of I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right ;)

Coupe Devil 10-11-2002 12:22 PM

I just measured mine and its 6 1/2 inches as well. Just let me know if you want it..

slider_buck 10-11-2002 05:48 PM

i'll try and measure it tomorrow if i remember. i know my stock one would fit inside of the f150 pulley. it is quite a bit of difference.

stangsrule 10-12-2002 02:07 AM

A friend gave me one off of his 93 Cobra and was saying that the Cobra's were underdriven from the factory, but I discovered that it is EXCATLY the same size as what came on my car... They both measure out to just about 6 3/16 OD. I am getting belt slippage and want to try a slightly bigger pulley.;)

Coupe Devil 10-13-2002 08:49 PM

SO you want mine ??

Bradley
