edelbrock performer EFI kit

Would an Edelbrock Performer EFI intake manifold kit be alright to put on a 5.0 with stock heads?

yes

Definitely...but you won't feel a huge difference until you complete the whole combination with aftermarket heads and cam. But you might gain around 15hp. or so by just putting the manifold on.

how much est. HP gain after new heads and cam? $500 for 15 HP sounds like a lot.

Very few modification in and of themselves will result in dramatic performance improvments. It all comes down to the combination of parts. The manifold by itself now will yield 10-20 hp, but will allow your future heads to live up to their full potential. A stock intake with good heads will really choke up the intake path and rob you of power.

It's hard to estimate the horsepower for a random car...but for an average alum. heads, mild cam and aftermarket manifold set up...I'd imagine somewhere around 40-50 "real" horsepower that you can DEFINITELY feel. Without any port work or anything a decent heads/cam/intake combo should put you somewhere around the 300-320hp range...providing that you have all of the necessary bolt ons, exhaust, etc. If you're thinking of going with some heads...AFRs have my vote! :D

Look for a buy

I run the Edelbrock Performer EFI. I didn't have to pay $500 for it, though. Keep checking the Mustang mags or the classified on Mustang sites. I'm sure you can do better than that.
