Went to track with my 4.6L powered cruiser
Hey all,
I haven't posted in awhile so i figured it was time (even though i don't have a mustang currently). Anyway, i took out my '97 Crown Vic cop car and did some test 'n tune and bracket racing, here's how i did: 1st run: 16.553@82.48 (2.67 60'), 2nd: 16.238@83.63 (2.519 60'), 3rd: 16.028@83.25 (2.306 60'), 4th: 16.002@83.46 (2.303 60'), and for the bracket racing; Win - dial: 16.00, ran 16.021@84.38 RT .329 Win - dial: 16.00, ran 15.965@83.70 RT .225 - other guy red lit loss - dial: 15.95, ran 16.001@83.77 RT .249, lost by .0259 It sucks because the bracket racing was for cash (about $360) and if i would have dialed in at 16.00 i would have won :( . The other guy just plain out drove me. This was my 2nd time bracket racing and the first time i've gone past the 1st round. Anyway, i love drag racing and i can't wait to get the 400M and C6 together to go in a 'stang for some fast racing! Later, |
Re: Went to track with my 4.6L powered cruiser
A high 15 isnt bad for that car. Bracket racing is fun as hell the key to consistancy is consistant traction and maintaning your engine temp. I am about to install an oil cooler in an effort to become more consistant cause every hundreth of a second counts big. :D

That's a good idea, i tried to keep the car running for the same amount of time before each run so the temp was consistently the same (approximately).
I'm pretty sure i'm gonna go out this sunday and do more test 'n tune and bracket racing, i can't wait! I was tinkering with my car the other day and realized i had a crushed muffler, the dual exhaust necks down from 2.25" from behind the last cat to 1.75" at the h-pipe and the intake silencer reduces the inlet from 65mm (throttle body size) down to 45mm (1.75"). i cut the intake silencer out and now i have an excuse to put some good sounding exhaust on the car... i have a feeling this "low budget" bracket racing is going to cost me more than i thought :D It's funny because no matter what vehicle i'm driving i'm always tinkering with it...oh well! |
