I an 89 LX and I have the
exact same problem as you. Including the burn mark in the grey adaptor (it looks like a browinish tint in the middle right?)
I have been at this for weeks/months and still have no idea on how to fix this problem.
I too have tried several switches, and I still get the same problem. I have checked the connector for proper grounding and they all seem to be grounded.
Please, if you EVER get around to fixing this, can you please tell me (through e-mail perhaps: gautam@cubicdesign.com)
